  1. For those living in an urban environment, your neighbors can gift you those awful bugs too. I’m still traumatized by the centipede sting I received while sleeping on my trip to Maui last week! 6 inches of a mean, venomous, red centipede…I did not know these things delivered such deep, intense pain!

    1. Mary D, I hope you are ok. I knew about centipedes being in Hawaii.
I have never seen one. I hope you are ok. I thought they were deadly. Since you’re alive they must not be deadly. I’ve never seen bed bugs either but I have talked with people who have been bitten. I think bed bug bites are painful too. I wonder if there is a bug spray to prevent bed bugs. Toxic sprays are not good either.

  2. Bedbugs on planes? Who knew? Bedbugs, unfortunately travel everywhere you and your luggage go. In a hotel room, I don’t put my luggage on the bed or on the floor. When available, I use those little folding luggage stands, or put my cases on the wood tables, dressers, etc. Spraying is a necessary evil. Unfortunately, airlines are going to have to rethink times when they spray the planes. They’ll need plenty of time to spray, let the insecticide dry and the fumes dissipate. But that doesn’t mean that plane will be ready for another flight the next hour. People can’t be breathing in those noxious fumes

    1. Bedbugs live to hide in dressers and tables, just so you know! They can fit into a crevice as small as the width of a credit card with ease.

  3. Ohhhhhh Myyyyyyy Great Bug! IF I ever encountered this situation, it would be so tramautic for me. I had no idea this was an issue, but then again, I should with all the worldwide travel and weather conditions. But just never thought about it. When I arrive at the condo, I dont want to set my suitcase outside, then I have a worry about roaches. SO will buy some plastic zipper cases to line the inside of my suitcase. Now I will worry about my carry on and backpack on the floor as it is an overnight flight. Oh My My! Now I have to look in my American seat backs before sitting down and then what, no way will they re assign my seat!

  4. I have relatives presently dealing with a bed bug infestation in their house. They’ve had to get rid of their beds and bed frames and they replaced them with air mattresses. They’re still in the process of bagging up Everything and, since they don’t have a clothes dryer, they’ve been taking their clothes to a laundromat to spin them in the dryers (they live in a desert in a rural area & have always used a clothesline). Heat will kill them much faster than freezing. Once they get as much out as they can, the pest peeps will come in and bathe the inside with permethrin and my relatives will get to spend the night in a hotel.

I’ll take a roach problem any day. Aloha!

  5. #7 trips to Hawaii over the last 34 years and I never encountered this problem either going or returning home. For that matter, having been flying and traveling extensively since I was 13 years old I have still never encountered the problems. So the question is why now?

    1. I’ve been to Hawaii dozens of times, all islands, staying at all types of places and have never encountered bed bugs. Maybe my time is up!!
