So do we need to get take a test of your are fully vaccinated coming from the mainland?
Hi Noah,
You do not need to take a test if traveling from the mainland, so long as you are considered fully vaccinated with an FDA or WHO-approved vaccine, starting Nov. 8. You will need to show proof of vaccination and upload it to Safe Travels.
Otherwise, a negative test result PDF taken within 72 hours of flight from a Trusted Testing Partner will need to be uploaded prior to departure.

Do international travelers that have to stop in the mainland for a few hours connection will be considered as « domestic travelers » or « international travelers » and only show a proof of vaccination and negative pcr test.

We wondered the same thing. Is it a single ticket, not leaving the mainland airport, or what exactly that is the determinant. That is not clear.

I’m not sure about the last paragraph. Actually, the governor said yesterday that international travelers (not flying directly) will be considered as « domestic travelers » and will be allow to avoid quarantine by uploading a proof of their vaccination on « safe travel ». They also said that on Nov 8th «the State of Hawaiʻi, in will accept vaccines approved or authorized by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, and vaccines listed for emergency by the World Health Organization »
So Hawaii is welcoming people or saying stay away??
Trying to plan is becoming increasingly difficult.
We flew from Denver to Maui 2 weeks ago, spent 7 days on Maui, flew to Honolulu and spent 3 days there, before returning to Denver. Every aspect of the trip was outstanding. We followed all the rules and requirements for testing, uploading info, carrying our vaccination cards and showing at restaurants, etc. It couldn’t have been better. This website was super helpful and made our trip less stressful. Thanks!

Thank you for this update! My mother-in-law will be visiting from the UK, stopping in California to see family first. She is fully vaccinated with the Pfizer vaccine, but got it in the UK, not in the U.S. So frustrating that she will still have to test to enter the state and restaurants! I’m hoping they will amend this requirement if the vaccine is the same as received here.

Her UK vaccination will work for restaurants, just not for entry to the state following a stopover.

When Mayor Rick implemented his vaccination or negative tesr program in September, he said it would be for 60 days….which is quickly approaching.
Any update on whethere or not if Mayor Rick will follow through on this or will it be similar to Governor Ige’s promise to roll back all restrictions once we hit a 70% vaccination rate?
