Does Even 45% Off Trump Waikiki Sound Tempting?

In the end-game of our uber reality TV-like presidential campaign, we noted that Trump Waikiki is having a fire sale with their just announced Hawaii deals. Could even sale with up to 45% off entice non-supporters to stay at a Trump branded property? We can’t wait to hear your take on this.

Trump Brand in Distress

Billionaire Mark Cuban feels the Trump brand is toxic and may not recover. While that may or may not be the case, the potential impact of the election on the Trump brand, even here in Hawaii is well taken. For years, applying the brand to properties for sale or as in this case for rent, has created the appearance of opulence and success. Until now. Bloomberg says “Trump’s Politics Are Costing Him Customers.”

As a result of the presidential campaign the brand has become extremely polarized, and relevant to a smaller group. To put heads in Hawaii beds, the brand needs to appeal to well off, educated Hawaii visitors. Bloomberg says that’s the group that the presidential campaign has alienated.

TripAdvisor Reviews on Trump Waikiki

You can read the TripAdvisor reviews – although a large number of the reviews are of the kind that seem questionable to us. That is, when a majority of reviews are from people that don’t have a plethora of other reviews. That certainly raises a red flag when we are considering their validity.

Regarding the Trump Waikiki Brand

The hotel is not owned by Donald Trump. The site states “Trump International Hotel & Tower® Waikiki Beach Walk® is not owned, developed or sold by Donald J. Trump, the Trump Organization or any of their affiliates. Irongate Azrep BW LLC, the owner and developer of the property, uses the “Trump” name and mark under license from Trump Marks Waikiki LLC, which license may be terminated or revoked according to its terms.”

  1. The decision of whether or not to stay at a Trump branded property is not a political one. Trump has chosen to expose himself to the world and now that we see his true character, we have the freedom to choose whether or not to support him through his brand. I personally would never provide one cent to help him further his causes, either indirectly or directly. He has lowered the ethical standards and promoted hatred at a level not seen in this country in a long time.

  2. If I had the $$ to spend on it, I would stay at Trump Waikiki. However, for our recent stay in Waikiki, it had to be a condo at Imperial a couple streets over. The amazing thing about politics is that it is all about your perspective. And my perspective is that if the Clintons ever do manage to build anything of value like Trump has, and it happened to be a hotel, I would never stay there simply because I understand who the Clintons really are.

  3. One good thing about the trump Waikiki is that he doesn’t get any revenue from them. He just sold them his name.

And while I wouldn’t stay there, they do have a pretty great happy hour! 🙂

  4. Please! That brand is hopelessly corrupted. It now has a negative value. Who wants to stay at a place named for a child rapist?
The end of the election cycle is not going to change that. Too much information has come to light to sweep it under the rug. Soon the unfortunate owners will be lucky if they can give those rooms away. Time to kick that broken, evil brand to the curb and distance themselves from the fallout. Thank you just my two cents worth. Renard

  5. I just received an email from Beat of Hawaii, offering 45% off a stay at Trump Waikiki. Here is my reply: I would sleep on the streets before I would stay in any of Trump’s properties. And if you continue representing his properties, I will unsubscribe from your newsletter.

  6. A good high quality hotel is where I like to stay. I have never looked into who the owners were. If I did, probably half the hotels and Hawaii condo’s that I have stayed at could be off limits. Interesting question. Are yous trying to rock a boat??

    Love your web site.

    1. Ralph — I think Beat of Hawaii is trying to present the story fairly and completely. I have never found them to take sides on this website.

  7. Will never spend a dime at or for anything with the name trump on it.
Yes, I intentionally used a small “t” – it should go well with his small . . . hands.

  8. Would NOT patronize any Trump branded building, merchandise etc. Hopefully those paying to use his name will remove it.

  9. A hotel is a hotel and a good hotel at 45% off is a place I would stay. The hotel employees has many good people that would be punished for others mistakes.

  10. I’ve been on your email list now for about three months once we decided we’re vacationing in Hawaii. We leave for Kona next week! I’ve really appreciated the breadth of subjects you cover in your emails. It’s been quietly informative. I never did score on the really low airfare deals you talked about, but we’re flying for about half from what it was last year.

Thank you for providing all the scoop on Hawaii!

    1. Hi Terry.

Thanks for writing and we wish you a great vacation on the Big Island. Hope you get to see the lava flow as it is simply spectacular right now.

      Aloha.
