      1. Wow, over 40 comments, did not think I did that many:)
I will come back in the morning after I find out from Kaiser and CVS , if they know anything about all the testing.

  2. Is it Groundhog Day? Did we not try this earlier and the complaints from the people requiring pre-tests was so loud, Ige went back to quarantining. What makes this time different?

  3. Aloha all
I am a Kaiser customer here in California, and shop at CVS almost once a week. Didn’t we hear about a partnership like this before?
I will inquire at both tomorrow and see if either knows anything about this, and let everyone know here on BOH.

    Aloha

    1. Hi Bill.

We have to think that something regarding those partnership specifics will be announced imminently. But please check and let us know what you find out. Thanks for that.

      Aloha.

  4. Hummmm… is there testing once people land? Josh Green said the program would/should include that. I did not see a mention of that in the Gov article you posted. Now we know more than ever that is true. I think he tested neg the first time and then post days later (after 72 hrs?). That is my concern. What if it is contracted by exposure within those 72 hrs?
I know we have to open. people are really hurting for money. I just want it to be safely, not at any price.

    1. Hi Ane.

Good to hear from you. We hear that post-travel testing is planned, but there are no details yet. This all needs to be fleshed out soon.

      Aloha.

  5. Thank you for the late breaking news. If I’m scheduled to travel to Hawaii on Oct 12 and tested 72 hrs prior with negative results then can I break quarantine on Oct 15th? Appreciate thoughts or suggestions on how this would work for someone who is traveling just days before the new program goes into effect.

    1. Hi Steve.

Great question. We don’t know the answer but have heard that quarantine will be shortened to the point when a negative test result is registered. So it would seem that on the 15th, you too would be free to do as you’d like. Stand by for more.

      ALoha.

  6. Is each island going to decide on their own, whether or not they will open up for incoming travelers, or will this be applied to each island, especially Kauai?

    Bill?

    1. Hi Bill.

We already updated the post with this. Certainly, we can’t say for sure, but believe that all the islands will work the same come October 15.

      Aloha.

  7. How will the testing timing work. I’m returning to the mainland on the 29th and plan to return some time after the 17th of OCT. So when I return after the 17th will I get a test on the mainland and I would guess some kind of paper work to verify ? I’m just finishing the 14 day quarantine tomorrow the 17th of Sep. I’m building a house here on Kauai and the quarantine is making it imposable to do my job.

    1. Hi Thomas.

So yes, you would get tested within 72 hours of returning to Kauai. We aren’t sure about the paperwork, but assume it will work with the state’s new app.

      Aloha.

  8. What happens if a traveler tests negative but becomes asymptomatic in the days prior to flying? How does pre-testing help us in Hawaii then? Can travelers go to a resort bubble without pre-testing? How will resort bubbles keep workers safe? What if travelers get here and refuse to wear masks and is asymptomatic? How long will it take for police to catch the ones who leave the bubble? How quickly would an asymptomatic non-mask wearing traveler infect locals before police get them? Is the GPS bracelet tamper proof and if so how?

  9. Hawaii Is still on the banana republic leadership track. You would think that residents and govt there would be steering in the exact opposite direction of pro usa and pro tourism and pro reopening. 🤔

I will believe it when i see it with the reopening. The government should have reopened the state to tourism back on june 1st with testing or without and only 14 day recommended quarantine like other states or with no quarantine.

Nothing was handled efficiently and the state has lost enough money, buisnesses, jobs, and talented workers that have moved to other states like the author stated to where the state wont recover for a decade. I got a good laugh about sime of the posters here saying dont be negative, just ignore the danger signs and hope itll all go away tomorrow (thanks to aloha spirit). Yay!?
