Today starts National Park week through April 29th. If you’re in the islands now you’ll receive free admission to Hawaii National Parks. We’ll be at two of the three national parks below, which is about the best way I can think of to celebrate Earth Day.
Haleakalā National Park – Maui
Last month we wrote about our sunset visit to this spectacular park. It stretches from the ocean, where this photo was taken at Kipahulu, to the soaring heights of Mt. Haleakala. Also visit their National Park Service website. Admission is normally $10/car.
Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park – Big Island
We hope to be able to check out the lava flow at Volcanoes National Park this week, so stay tuned for more on that. Admission is normally $10/car.
Pu’uhonua o Hōnaunau National Historical Park – Big Island
Often known as the City of Refuge, it offers a great place to learn first hand about Hawaiian culture and history. We’ll be close by at Kealakekua Bay Marine Sanctuary. Admission is normally $5/car.
Beat of Hawaii Facebook fans win! Bernice Sousa-Carden just won one year’s free alerts from the mainland city of her choice.
We’re giving away free alerts every day this week, so you too can win. VIP Alerts are advance deal notifications via text or email for just your city. If you’re not already a Facebook fan, here’s a good reason to give it a try.
