Alaska Airlines has long played an oversized role in Hawaii community care. That is continuing following the tragic Lahaina fire earlier this month. Today, they announced a 40% coupon code sale to help Maui.
Realizing that unless Maui travel (with the exception of West Maui) resumes immediately, there will be another catastrophe to be faced, namely a financial one, this 2-day discount offer of “40% off coach base fare levels published at alaskaair.com” will help Maui and visitors alike.
“Amidst Maui flight cancellations over the next couple of months, we are trying to protect air access to Maui as much as we can so that the community has a chance to recover from the economic pain that has been inflicted so far during this crisis. We hope that compassionate, mindful travelers will heed the call to support local businesses by visiting Maui, while giving Lahaina and the surrounding areas the space they need to heal and recover. Our Alaska Airlines team remains dedicated to directly assisting Maui’s communities and organizations, underscoring our unwavering commitment to stand by Maui during these challenging times.”
Alaska Airlines’ Daniel Chun, Sales, Community & Public Relations Director – Hawaii.

We just took advantage of this deal but I can’t believe how many West Maui hotels are still advertising for available rooms under $200 a night.
I’m confused as to why we were all told to cancel our trip to Maui and now you guys are posting Airlines such as Alaska and Southwest that are offering specials to come to Maui.
If you read some of the recent BOH posts, you’ll see that the original “Don’t come to Maui” was a knee-jerk reaction. The island has changed it’s messaging to “Don’t come to the far northwest part of Maui”, as that is the area affected by the fire, and hotels in the area are being used to house displaced residents. The rest of Maui, however, is beautiful, and your visits to the other 90% of the island are needed and encouraged. Contact your hotel and/or short-term rental and reinstate or reroute your vacation to visit these untouched areas. Maui will embrace you with much aloha!
Thanks for the tip. I saw your post before the Alaska Airlines email!
Luckily there are plenty of vacancies in Kihei and other parts of East Maui. This is a great opportunity to stay and explore parts of Maui that are a little harder to get when staying in Kaanapali.
Now my canceled trip to West Maui is rescheduled.
Haleakala sunrise here we come!!!
Mahalo!
I love Alaska, however most, if not all, of their flights to Hawaii are on the 737 MAX 9 aircraft. I’d rather swim than fly on that unsafe airframe
