Hawaiian Airlines Is Giving Away 4 Million Miles In May

Here’s a Hawaii sweepstakes you’ll want to know about. Hawaiian Airlines is having a free contest all during May. And for those who often complained that contests are limited only to U.S. residents, that isn’t the case here.

Hawaiian Airlines sweepstakes

31 Days of Lei Sweepstakes from Hawaiian Airlines.

This is an international sweepstakes and the first of its kind that we recall. The awards are divided among each of the five countries included in the promotion. They are the United States, Australia, New Zealand, Japan and South Korea. There will be 20 winners, with four selected from each country. There are no awards for Canadian residents, as Hawaiian does not fly from Canada now.

“31 Days of Lei is our love letter to HawaiÊ»i’s tradition of giving lei – it’s a chance to celebrate this enduring symbol of aloha. Extending the celebration for the whole month is a way to share the beloved gesture of sharing lei with a global audience.”

The celebration includes a series of interactive pop-ups, which commences at The Atrium at Westfield Century City in West Los Angeles on May 11. It will move to City Creek Center in Salt Lake City on May 18. There will also be a pop-up event in Tokyo.

These will be lei stand experiences complete with a photo backdrop, where visitors can receive orchids for their hair, flower lei, exclusive campaign merchandise, and even POG-flavored cotton candy. Additionally, there will be live Hawaiian music and hula performances.

Each winner will receive 200,000 miles – up to five roundtrip flights from the U.S. mainland.

Here’s how it works. Each week, there will be one winner from each country, and that lucky person will receive 200,000 Hawaiian Miles. If you are traveling from the West Coast to any of the Hawaiian Islands, the lowest price ticket starts at 17,500 miles each way. See their award redemption chart for more details. That means up to five round-trip economy tickets are possible from each award. The total available for U.S. residents is four, 200,000 mile awards.

  1. This is such a great contest giveaway. As I haven’t been on vacation for a long while and could use these Hawaiian miles for a family vacation. Maybe even a mommy get away. It would for sure be put to good use. I appreciate the opportunity to enter. Mahalo Nui and Aloha!

  2. IMO no deal here. I think you have to download the HA app and register to enter the contest. Then agree to all the promotions stuff. If you are lucky enough to be a winner then IMO you would get a tax responsibility of 6000 usd value taxable prize which is considered a gift tax rate. Most gift taxes are taxed at 50 percent so federal taxes would be 3000 dollars plus whatever the state rate is. 3000 divided by 5 trips equals $600 per roundtrip value maybe higher if state is included. HA writes off the gift value. Pay $600 gift tax+hotel transfers+tax+food+greens fees times 5 trips. Who wins. Hawaii.
Got thousands to go 5 times? More expensive each future trip. You might be better off getting a deal on disc air/hotel package deal.

  3. I would say that I have had the best time traveling on Hawaiian airlines in fact the mileage I acquired helped my nephew to travel to Texas without paying any money

  4. Aloha,
