    I am going to reserve the ticket for the interisland, as you mentioned, after the big traffic jam issue last December, I am a bit worried about the on-time performance of Southwest Airline, but also eager for the cheap airfare with free check-in luggage…
    May I have your opinion on this as a reference? Many thanks.

      Both Southwest and Hawaiian still suffer from flight delays. Not sure that will be any better with one airline or the other.

  2. As a traveler from the East Coast of the mainland, there is little chance I would fly SWA to Hawaii. Too many issues with their operations in general. I might use for inter island or from West Coast home. I fly SWA for local travel where there are plenty of flights and average trip is less than 3 hours.

  3. I don’t fly SWA anywhere if I can help it,because they have crappy and often worn-out seats. Fix that, and you can count me in

    1. Th last several flights I’ve taken on Southwest have been on brand new 737 Max. The seats (for the time being) are not crappy or worn out. But, I’ve certainly sat on some crappy and worn out seats in the past. And, not just on Southwest

  4. We flew to Kaua’i on 12/25 and returned to Oakland on 1/4/2023. Both of our flights were clearly outside of the “meltdown”, but both were Excellent. I am a committed SWA flyer and was prepared to be very disappointed on 1/4/2023. Instead the flight left about on time (5 minutes late), arrived in OAK 40 minutes early, and for once our bags were the first off the conveyor belt. AirPark bus was right there too. We were home in Orinda, 1H20M after we landed in OAK. A true pleasure to fly SWA. (N.B. There was no Wifi on the outbound and spotty on return)

  5. Aloha, 2 days into the meltdown SWA’S president stated, “we don’t know where our planes, crews, passengers, or their bags are”. What? Today SWA is offering 25,000 free miles and a fare sale. Throw in 2 free bags, a bag of pretzels, and a couple of jokes from the FA and all is forgiven. SWA will probably end up flying more passengers than they ever have because of all the attention they are receiving. That is until their next meltdown. When less is given less is expected. This is the bizzaro world of SWA. Aloha
