We were supposed to leave SEA to OGG this morning at 9:40am. We boarded as usual but have been sitting on the tarmac and it’s now 12:23pm still hoping to leave.
Update.. we ended up departing at 12:53 and arrived in maui at 5:21 only to sit on the plane again until 6:15 waiting for a gate to open up to accommodate our plane size. Disappointed in Hawaiian Airline.
Because of Hawaii remote location, it is a little disturbing airtravel has gotten unreliable . Any change of service has a large effect on the state.
Let’s hope it doesn’t get any worse
These reports about Hawaiian Air absolutely baffle me. I fly Hawaiian every year to Kauai and never had an issue with any person or agent. I have experienced delays and one rescheduled flight off of Kauai, but nothing that caused me great discomfort or grief. I will continue to fly Hawaiian.
Interesting – was booking next Summer’s flights and much to my surprise, Southwest was more expensive than Hawaiian! And of course with, you get cramped quarters and (I think) no advanced seat selection. Go Figure!
At least with Southwest, you don’t get a nasty attitude, snarky comments, destroyed baggage and physically assaulted by the flight attendant.
(At least that’s what happened to me the last time I flew with HA in October).
Having experienced those issues on an A-330 in First cabin on HA lately, I honestly don’t know what airline to fly to the mainland and back anymore.

SAN had a weather advisory and was below minimums to land safely.
Also very interesting fact. Flight aware shows Southwest with the most delays of all Airlines within, into, or out of the United States today.
1006 cancels 24% of their flights
1930 delayed flights at 47%.
Hawaiian has 4 cancels at 4%
48 delays at 18% of operations.
8,173 total cancels for all today. Tough day to travel..
My Southwest experience with no delays flying interisland from Hilo & at $38.10 one-way fare that can’t be beat.
