Hawaii air gets a lift with great news for anyone planning a Hawaii vacation during summer 2014. This afternoon Hawaiian Airlines announced that they will for the first time ever offer nonstop service from Los Angeles to both the Big Island and Kauai starting next summer. Service will be aboard Hawaiian Airlines 767 aircraft.
Will we see Hawaii deals? Read on for our take on this.
The new flights are currently planned as seasonal and will operate from June 26 to September 19, 2014, adding over 22,000 seats to these important Southern California to Hawaii markets. This comes in addition to their previously announced nonstops from Oakland to the Big Island and Kauai.

This is an interesting move from Hawaiian Airlines. It is a seasonal service during the peak summer period when demand is greatest, and carriers charge the highest airfares. The airline would hope that adequate summer demand would not overly dilute prices or cause an airfare war. On the other hand, we still believe that this will put competitive pressure on the other airlines in the marketplace. Those include American, Delta and United. Therefore, we expect to see some unusual moves in the otherwise stuck LA to Hawaii routes. In plain language, Hawaii deals.
While we don’t know exactly how this will unfold, please stay tuned.
