  1. So if we are flying from Minneapolis to Maui and have to be there the week of the 11th of October, we shouldn’t wait for Southwest? WHat’s the best airline to ge?

  2. Will SWA also be flying out Atlanta to Honolulu I see that they won’t be flying to Hawaii during the time I’m going but just checking for future references. Thank you.

    1. Hi Lorraine.

Through connecting flights that should be possible. For direct service they will be flying from the west coast.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi really appreciate the info, I am planning to take my family of 5 to San Diego out of Honolulu Sept 13 through 27 2018 to visit Disneyland and such. Wondering if you are able to tell me if SWA will be flying there or to lax by then mahalo(thanks).

    1. Hi Abraham.

No one knows but SWA. We’d be thinking more December rather than September, if it still happens this year. They need to finish their certification process among other things, so even SWA might not know quite yet. Should be really good fares in that market so just sit right for a while.

      Aloha.

  4. Thank you for all the updates, you have been great getting back to everyone! I would please like to know if you think that there is a possibility that Southwest starts service from the LA area to Hawaii by November of 2018. Thank you so much for replying!

    1. Hi Jacob.

Thanks. Yes it is a possibility – but that’s really all that we know. All of us are awaiting more information.

      Aloha.

  5. I am planning a trip to Kauai in July. I live in Louisiana. However, I am willing to travel to Texas if the savings are worth it especially since I need 9 seats.

Any suggestions on how to save some money without having to sit on a bucket with my knees in my chest for 8 hours?

  6. Hi, I have always enjoyed my trips to Hawaii, I think that the best experience to get there is On Hawaiian Air. Do you think they will ever fly out of Denver Co?

    Thanks have a great day!!!

  7. Looking to travel from Denver to Kauai June 30 – July 7 for a family of 5. We are flexible within a day or two on each end. I’ve been waiting to purchase tickets until 2018 as am hopeful that fares will drop significantly and that SWA will start service. Any ideas when their flights are slated to begin? Thank you!

    1. Hi Dena.

They will not be flying for your dates, so best to start planning an alternative. $1,300 on nonstop, or save a couple of hundred with stops and more duration. If you stay two days later and return on Monday, then nonstop drops to $987. That’s a good deal.

      Aloha.

      1. Fly direct to OGG in Maui or you’ll be going through Honolulu. Search Expedia until you find a good rate. Then GO!

    1. I seriously would not plan a wedding around SWA going to the Islands by summer. It sounds like just too much to happen on their end to happen – plus, what if they do end up with flights to Kauai in July, but do not let people know until May or June – will that last minute action work for your plans?
