Southwest Airlines today announced a Hawaii airfare sale. For a limited time, the next two days, you can get up to 40% off on Hawaii airfares with this special promotion code offer. This sale is for those planning to visit the Hawaiian islands between August and December 2024.

Promotion code savings are valid for Southwest’s round-trip fares booked from now until July 11, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. Pacific Time. The travel dates for this promotion are between August 13 and December 17, 2024.
There are blackout dates to keep in mind.
Those are from August 29 to September 3 and from November 21-25 for flights from the mainland to Hawaii, and August 29 to September 3 and from November 29 to December 3, 2024, for flights from Hawaii to the mainland.
How well does this Southwest Hawaii deal work?
We tried a variety of city pairs and dates, and, overall were not entirely impressed with what we found. Yes, there are savings, but they weren’t on the majority of flights that we checked, and they were mostly significantly less than the 40% savings Southwest says is possible. In fact the greatest savings our searches found was 34.5%, although most were in the range of 20%.
Please check for your routes and let us know how this works for you. We also have found that Southwest Hawaii airfares have risen substantially, as is the case with the other airlines. Southwest obviously includes free checked bags, an offer which remains unique in the industry. Just be careful and vet this deal carefully before buying.

Book on Southwest.com during the booking period and enter the promotion code HAWAII40 in the Promo Code box. When selecting your flights, the discount appears as a strike-through of the original fare on their eligible flights.

Any changes made to the itinerary after purchase will void the promotion code savings, and the discount cannot be combined with other promotion codes or fares. Thus you want to be very sure of your dates before booking!
The discount amount will vary by destination, flight, and day of the week, and sale fares are not available on all flights, especially during peak travel days and times. The discount is valid only on new reservations made within the booking period.

I’d rather walk or swim instead of flying the cattle car anywhere. But especially to/from Hawaii
You are so right about checking the prices! I booked a RT on Southwest just last week and have a lower fare than using this code. The flights are better as well. My entire fare is cheaper than the discounted fare for just the outgoing flight.
There is no business class or first class for the long flight to Hawaii. I’ll stick to HA even without them having Wifi! Comfort as we grow older is the main thing in traveling, imho.
it’s a good deal however we already have tickets with a similar price and it wasn’t a sale????
In the past, this sale was worthwhile. This time, SWA is not even featuring it on the home page. Very, very few flights appear to be discounted.
I checked round trip for family of 3 from SMF to HNL from December 12-20 and the price was $1500 about $47 dollar discount. Not worth it for me.
Southwest allows bookings to be canceled and flight credits are available without expiration so there is little risk unless you don’t ever expect to fly Southwest again.
I checked too- RNO to PHX to OGG RT was $976 without early bird. Thankfully we are already book on HA at an amazing price!
