  1. Prices are sky high for airlines already we already pay extra for a seat that should be included in the ticket, we cannot bring liquids or food with us, we have to pay for luggage what else on this earth are we gonna have to pay extra for to fly?? I recently traveled for 3 weeks and took my small backpack and wore 5 sets of clothes that I could shed as needed and roll up or tie onto my backpack, washed them when I was in a hotel room no baggage claim to worry about or extra fee, if you try it you will be surprised how easy it can be to travel. The airlines will soon be stinky cabins because people will not spend money to take clothes they will wear what they have on!! Remember life is a boomerang what you throw will return!!!!

  2. We generally fly SWA back and forth from HNL to LGB,SAN, or LAX. Flights are usually close to capacity. Obviously there is demand for Southwest flights, and they have a very generous rewards program. Its Economics 101, not Southwest “baking” the free bags into the price as BOH is insinuating.

  3. Looks like we’ll try to keep flying Southwest. I just looked at flights from LAS to OGG 3/23-3/30 and Southwest was still $400 cheaper RT than Hawaiian. And that’s before you add luggage on Hawaiian. That’s just ridiculous.

  5. How to avoid Bag fees…
1: Get a “branded” credit card and you don’t have to worry about fees…
    2: Fly SWA 😉
    3: Fly F/J class 😉 😉
4: Only have carry ons. It’s Hawaii. How many clothes do you need?

  6. Well, this will make the carry on bag craziness even worse.
Something needs to be done to get that under control.
Sometimes I will see people carrying on 2 bags bigger than
either one of my checked bags. It really slows down
getting on and off the plane!

  7. “Of Course they are”… I foil their rotten tricks by just bringing a carry on case. I can pack everything I need (what do you Really need in Hi anyway)? Anything else can be bought in situ. This applies no matter what class I’m flying or where. Feels great to just wheel out of the airport headed for the rental facility and getting a jump while everyone else is waiting in baggage.

  8. We’re @ 95 and counting Hawaii Trips since 1986, all 7-10 days, until February of the Pandemic year, when we cancelled and have not returned. So many great memories, always the likes of the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua, Marriott Kaanapali, Renaissance Wailea, Grand Hyatt Poipu, Grand Hyatt Waikaloa on the Big Island and from Moana Surfrider, Royal Hawaiian, Hyatt Regency Waikiki, now all this craziness from Ige and the Nuclear Attack Warning, Pandemic Shuffle, to Green, and the tragedy of Lahaina and the Hawaiian Electric and Water failure’s, no, “it’s been done”. A Hui Hou.
