  1. I’m online for 12 hourds a day. But when I fly – across the country, including Hawaii, and Europe – I never use wi-fi. I watch a movie or sleep or both.

  2. Seems like a slow news day lol. Even though it’s satellite. Alot of the providers aren’t going to be launching a satellite to sit over the sparsely populated pacific or it’s more or less intermittent. Starlink prolly best bet eventually. But I will admit southwest when it works was pretty good. Watched TikTok about half the flight and united was able to do regular browsing

  3. We pretty much only fly United to the mainland, so can’t compare with others, but would describe it as “variable”. Sometimes it seems to be relatively responsive, and then at other times it just doesn’t work. No idea if it is the nature of the signal coming into the plane or the bandwidth stress from users.

  4. Aloha Beat of Hawai’i.
Whenever I fly, I’m just hoping for a drama-free zone and a timely flight.
I’ve taken my Auntie’s advice. She told me that I need to lower my expectations and go with the flow.
She turned 100 on her birthday.
Pretty sure that’s the key to longevity. That and a steady diet of Spam and eggs, every single day.
    Mahalo Nui Loa!!

    1. Mostly good genes but whatever works. I agree to just chill and not even try to connect to internet. A couple of hours disconnected can only be a benefit to all as they enter what should be a slower pace of aloha time and get more out of your vacation.

  5. American only offers transpacific Internet access on their wide body fleet, the 777s and 787s which are now used less often to Hawaii as they move those to international routes. The majority of their Hawaii flights are on the A321neo with Internet service that cuts out if you’re not within about half an hour of the mainland on both my recent flights to Kona and Honolulu from the West Coast.

  6. I used WiFi on Alaska to/from Maui earlier in the month. Worked well – streamed Netflix even. Huge fan! 😉

  7. We flew on Southwest from San Jose to Lihue yesterday afternoon. The $8 WiFi worked great in our aeroplane over the sea. Very few service “burps.” This is a 5+ hour flight, you have to expect a few burps for $8. Only $6 if you pay with a SW Visa card.
