Allegiant Hawaii First Class | Giant Seat + Extended Legroom

Hawaii deal airline, Allegiant, has just revealed their new premium offerings included on all of their Hawaii flights. While this isn’t in any sense a true first or even business class, it is nonetheless an interesting product. Here’s how the upgrades break down:

Allegiant Giant Seat – $90 extra

  • Four across seatings (instead of six in standard seats)
  • First class style and size seats (no recline however)
  • Additional legroom
  • No additional services or amenities
  • Our take: a great deal

Legroom Plus – $74 extra

  • Additional 6 inches of legroom
  • Standard configuration in other regards
  • Our take: a fair deal

As we indicated previously, Allegiant is adding a six seat premium section in its Hawaii fleet of 757’s. Spokesperson Jessica Wheeler said the new seats are the size of a “…standard first class seat…they’re comfortable, much bigger than the standard economy seat.”

The Allegiant first class offering resulted from a new FAA rule as much as having anything to do with increasing passenger comfort. The regulations required the airline to install two comfortable crew rest seats with deep recline and foot rests for its Hawaii fleet. Since Allegiant will not use all of these seats on every flight, they intend to sell them to customers at a yet to be revealed price. Thus, Allegiant can experiment for the first time with a first class product offering. As far as we know, however, no other amenities, such as meals, beverages and free baggage allowance will be offered.

According to Jessica, “the crew rest rules created an opportunity. We knew we would have to put these two seats in anyways. So we put them in and added the other (four) seats.”
