Until EVERYONE plays their part, this will be an ongoing struggle for every state, every country. Government needs to gather data, stay close to the science, and put programs in place to take care of those most vulnerable (health wise and economically). And – each of us as citizens needs to wear a mask. Plain and simple. I am so angered by every person that blatantly disregards this simple action. No one is taking away your rights! And your quality of life will be fine….wearing a mask, even if for the next year if needed until a vaccine….is just a blip of time in your overall life. How about you contribute to a safer community rather than rebel which puts the vulnerable at risk. (I’m not directing this to anyone posting here. I’m just fed up and need to express my thoughts in this moment.)

Safe travels site can not process Canadians. Complete failure.

State and city governments need to be run like businesses. Now that tax revenue is down, hopefully it will provide the pressure to clean house and revamp how things are done here. Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I hope not.

First our government was never intended that way and with the last two business men presidents clearly we can see that government should NEVER be run like a business.

As Dayna R, stated ” Aloha Jeff and Rob, and Mahalo for keeping us informed about the progress (or lack thereof) of tourism in Hawaii.” I had a 40th Anniv. trip cancelled in May 2020, initially rescheduled to May 2021, I too am wary if travel will happen by then. Hawaiian Airlines refunded my fares, Yeah Hawaiian Air! Doing the right thing. Now to contend with the real estate company on Kauai for the Condo I had originally taken their offer of 18 month rebooking offer. I don’t now trust I will be able to safely travel and what will our experience be then? Will typical tourist sites and adventures even be around by then? 7 months isn’t long. I would need to rebook a flight shortly after the first of the year. Any tips to encourage a real estate Co to offer a refund. I don’t want to name them yet.

The real estate company is in a pickle because the homeowners they represent still have to pay their mortgages, Hawaii resort property taxes, homeowners association dues, etc. All of which is not being refunded to them. They are still on the hook.
We recently cancelled a trip to Santa Fe, NM and the property management company allowed us to apply our deposit to a future trip. We love Santa Fe so were happy to rebook. Hopefully the company will still be in business because it is dire straits out there for employers in the tourism field. We didn’t push the issue as we want these companies to survive and come back.
