  1. Just tried to get the low fares from Phila. Used the chat as well. Used the flexible fare calendar. could find no low prices. Are they all gone or do I just not know how to do it?

    1. Aloha Christina,
You’ve got to jump fast! After our flights in May were in jeopardy, we were fortunate to get HA to refund our tickets. We got the $278 deal from BoH and are booked for Sept. We’re fortunate to he able to travel anytime and follow the “Beat” religiously to get the best fares.

  2. Are there ever any deals for those of us in the upper Midwest? It stinks that the people from the East cost can fly cheaper to Hawaii than those of us in MN, WI, etc.
Thank you for all of the great information your emails provide. I real them all.
Hopefully everyone on the islands are safe and well.
    Mahalo!

    1. Hi Mel.

It is rare from the mid-west, but does happen. MSP would be the most likely.

      Aloha.

  3. Thank you. Long time reader. Been many years since we have been able to visit being located on the east coast and air price being the issue with now a family of 5. Used to be much easier when it was only 2 of us traveling 🙂 Wanted to say thank you as your notification yesterday of the super low price has us booked for mid July. The $143 price from Philadelphia was available for many dates in July and even went down to $133 for Kona each way late yesterday so we booked. Let’s hope life is back to a relative normal and restrictions are lifted by mid July. If not we will take advantage of the 2 year no charge rebooking option and just think of this as an investment in a 2021 trip 🙂

    Thanks again!
    Kyle

    1. Hi Kyle.

Glad that worked out. Thanks for being a long-time reader and for letting us know.

      Aloha.

  4. Thank you for posting these! We would love to visit from Phoenix again. Our trip last year to Hawaii was amazing. Do you think tourism will be up and running this fall? I know how important it is to the economy on the islands and we hope to visit with our 3 kids!

    1. Hi Jilene.

We do think tourism will be returning relatively soon and expect to have updates in the next few weeks with more details.

      Aloha.

  5. We, too, were trying to return from Maui to California. We booked/paid for four flights including our original return flight. Two were on Hawaiian. But when their flights were severely reduced, we booked with Alaska, first one (cancelled), then another which has just cancelled. We have booked again back on Hawaiian OGG-HNL-SFO, our fifth booking. HAL #12 is one of their two ‘guaranteed’ flights to the mainland and has been flying daily as originally stated. So we gave up, booked that route, and have submitted our refund request to Alaska. Let’s hope our fifth attempt is successful.

    1. When is your flight from OGG to HLN to SFO? We would love to hear if it’s successful….then we’ll do the same if it works out for you.

  6. Please, please post this comment…..We are stuck here in Maui and have purchased numerous tickets (different airlines) to get back home to California. And the airlines will for sure book your flight and take your money…they’ll even let you pick a seat. But just beware that your flight will almost definitely be “rescheduled” (cancelled). We have so much money out there in tickets and sure they can be held for 2 years as credit….but the problem is that we customers are paying for these tickets, but have NO guarantee that the flights are actually going to fly. We have had at least 4 of our flights cancelled by now and are expecting the same thing to happen to our other 4 upcoming booked flights to get back home to California ….so we just keep making new ones for the next available…and then, they cancel as well. So please just know that…..the airlines WILL take your reservation AND your money, but don’t expect to really fly, because your flights WILL cancel, until this is ALL sorted out. Until then, you’re just going to be “contributing to the airlines”, not planning a trip. Please Buyer Beware!!
