  1. We are planning a trip to Maui in June and we would like to take our Granddaughter with us. As of now what are the requirements for kids. She is 14 years old.

    Thank You

  2. Is it true that FEMA healthcare workers, including doctors and nurses, are not required to be vaccinated but Hawaii has dismissed (fired?) all Hawaiian healthcare workers who did not follow The Mandate to get vaccinated? If yes,how do residents feel about having all their professional medical healthcare Hawaiian residents being dropped out of work but allowing Federal FEMA employees, vaxed & non-vaxed to take over the already limited island’s employment and have no Mandate on them?

    1. This literally makes no sense since it’s federally required for federal employees to be vaccinated. One simple Google search proved you wrong. Stop spreading lies.

      1. This person is asking a question not stating fact. And Google is not always a good source of information.

        1. No, they’re doing the classic “just asking questions” tactic to get away with putting misinformation out there. And how is asking questions in a comment section of a blog better than Google? Google is a tool not a source of information. Learn proper search utility and a wealth of accurate information is at your fingertips.

  3. Hi Rob and Jeff. When is this new mandate on having a booster going into effect? And if a person doesn’t have the booster shot, is the 72 hour covid negative test then the step to take in order to fly to Kauai?y friend is traveling March 2-9 and I am asking for her. Mahalo.

    1. Hi Debra.

We’ll update you and soon as we learn more including the answers to your questions.

      Aloha.

  4. In the past couple of days the MSM, CDC and St. Anthony have all finally acknowledged what many have known for quite some time based on studies and observations around the world- the latest variant is far less dangerous than its predecessors. This house of cards is ready to fall.

So why are our always-behind-the-curve authorities raising the ante now by requiring yet another shot to go about life?

Thanks again BOH for the best updates anywhere.

    1. I’m afraid that you might be claiming victory in the grasp of defeat. Those same virologists and epidemiologists that you cite warn that just because a virus mutates, spreads more easily with milder cases, doesn’t mean that it simply fades away. Though we don’t know how future variants may mutate, there’s a reason scientists call this a “novel” coronavirus. Millions hospitalized and 800,000 of our brothers and sisters dead makes assumptions about the future is a fool’s game.

  5. Aloha Jeff and Rob, Mahalo for keeping us informed! 🙂

Some posters talk about boycotting Hawaii due to the vaccination requirements. Why? No vax + no booster= No entry. Perhaps with an exception to those who carry a valid HI DL or ID-OK with the test. If you own a second home in the islands, you know as I do, that their medical system is nothing compared to the Mainland. If you love Hawaii, get vaxxed & support their economy. We’re booked for April, May, Sept, and Dec. 2022. See you soon!

  6. Dear BoH,I still don’t understand why all arrivals are’nt required to test negative 72 hours prior to departure vaccinated or not! Thank you

    1. Hi Scott.

It is complicated. Our understanding is that the state did not feel it could require testing at this time.

      Aloha.

      1. They require vaccines why not testing??? The vaccine is obviously not preventing covid in Hawaii, not complicated…test them all!

  7. Dear Governor:

Are you crazy? Don’t you see what’s happening with Omicron and the vaccination status of recent Covid cases? 75% are vaccinated with booster yet we still get Covid. It doesn’t seem to be working. Why are you doubling down? Is this politics?

    1. The vaccination and booster shots have never guaranteed you won’t get COVID, but the severity of your illness may be less, and you could be kept out of the hospital if you get a vaccine.

  8. I’m sorry the rules keep changing and I can’t keep up. Can someone please tell me if you are triple vaxed do you have to get a negative Covid test to travel from Florida to Maui? Do you have to be tested to return? I know this question must be asked a million times but I appreciate any guidance. Thanks

    1. Hi Michelle.

The requirement is either testing or vaccination, not both. Nothing should be required in the opposite direction.

      Aloha.

    2. My question is why would anyone want to travel from Florida to Maui!! In Flordia you are free and not restricted to all these crazy non effective rules and mandates. I had a trip planned from Arizona to Maui next week but canceled. It’s clear to me they we aren’t wanted in Hawaii.

      1. Aloha! I have spent a lot of time in Kauai since covid presented itself in 2020. Everyone worked together to stay safe and it was working. If people chose not to comply with the state of Hawaii’s rules they should definitely take their business to a state like Florida. States rights!

      2. LOL no its clear that this island is a spec in the middle of the pacific ocean 3000 miles away from the nearest land with another hospital. Good I am glad you are not going. Funny how we have become such an entitled society. There have always been rules to follow. Dont like the rules dont go! It is clear they do want us in hawaii they just want us to do the right thing and be vaccinated. I will take your trip to Maui and gladly follow ANY and all rules.
