  1. Aloha BOH Bro’s

Here’s why many of us are so frustrated with our government leaders and their lack of vision when dealing with covid surges.

Just about everyone posting on BOH have come to the same conclusion after any holiday gatherings we have a spike of covid cases.

So instead of having plans in place to proactively address holiday gatherings government officials like Green wait till the last second to suggest a 72hr lockdown.

This isn’t exclusive to Hawaii it’s just example of why you should not rely on our leaders to lookout for best interests

Hope you are not just finally realizing this?

  2. Not sure a 3-Day STAY HOME (PAUSE) over a 3-day Holiday weekend really equates to a Shutdown? But, it certainly wouldn’t hurt…. 😉

  3. I’m not in favor of lockdowns, but if people are unwilling to abide by limitations on gatherings, this seems reasonable to me-if it’s enforced. I’m praying that some of the experts are right, and that Delta will follow the pattern it displayed in the UK and India, and it will peak and then rapidly descend. If a 72 hour hold helps keep the hospitals from being overrun with cases a week or so after Labor Day, then it would be worth it-just my opinion. The mixed messages, however, don’t help at all.

Thanks for the updates BOH. Keep them coming. We’re supposed to go to a business meeting in late October, and are wondering if that will happen.

  4. It’s all over. Shut downs won’t work. The state was locked down for over a year, how did that work out? Perhaps Lt. Gov Green should watch this youtube.com/watch?v=JhRb5hnTseU Your only hope is to get vaccinated and it doesn’t look like that’s going to happen in Hawaii.

  5. At this point the entire population of Hawaii should stand up to these idiots and tell them to go screw themselves! All a shutdown does is hurt businesses and people. The islands were effectively shut down for a year and it hasn’t changed anything. Don’t blame this on the tourists, this is community spread, if there is such a thing. Hell, they can’t even TEST for the Delta Variant unless they do a GENOME test, which they are not doing. Furthermore, Green is inflating the numbers by claiming 4 positive cases for every one case because he’s ASSUMING that there are 4 people in a household. It’s time to stop listening to both Green & Ige and take back Hawaii.

    1. Goldie, your comment about inflating numbers is absolutely not true. Probable cases are a very small percentage of the new case count, and they have to meet certain requirements of likelihood. Please don’t spread more misinformation about what is already a confusing situation.

  6. The phrase “72-hr ahutdown” is a joke. First, it cannot be managed. Second, even if manageable, Labor Day weekend is 2 days away. Third, incoming visitors cannot and will not adhere to this. This group of Govt officials is the largest Circus show on the planet.

    1. Cannot and will not adhere to this. Ok. So he shuts down restaurants stores beaches etc. I think the tourists will have Zero choice but to adhere to it. Entitled much?

  7. Part of the problem is the term “Shut Down.” It means different things to different people. Does Shut Down mean Stay-At-Home? Does it mean no travel without quarantine? Are they talking to residents or visitors? Define the terms and clearly state the intention. That’s what needs to happen in order to avoid confusion.

    1. that’s pretty clear shut down means shut down. The governor could stop all incoming flights. Not allow any visitors to actually go out into Hawaii.

  8. This is nothing more than a “he said, He said” when NEITHER one of them will step up and actually call for help from the federal government by getting the west coast based Navy hospital ship sent over to Hawaii with its 3,000+ hospital beds if indeed the hospitals are in such dire shape! And to think that he actually wants to be governor when he is pretty much as feckless as the governor!
And to those rambling on about masking, if they REALLY worked then wouldn’t it all have gone away last year such that vaccines would have never been required. Especially vaccines that neither protect those vaccinated from getting it or for them transmitting it. If you are foolish enough to get tested and it comes back positive then IMMEDIATELY ask to be tested for the flu because even the CDC said a recent flu shot or any number of respiratory viruses can actually cause false positives!
