  1. Aloha, have you heard anything about a possible West Maui JHM Kapalua Airport re-opening? Mahalo

  2. It doesn’t matter how many great deals there are on flights to Hawaii. Until they can bring down the price of renting a car we won’t be coming to Hawaii.

    1. Gregory – 10-4 on your comment regarding the rental cars! We’ve been travelling to Hawaii for the past 18 years (including all the “hoops” to get there this past January.) Unless something changes we will NOT be returning – paid $850 for a 7 week car rental 3 months ago – latest quote is $3700! If something doesn’t change (and soon due to time share commitments) we will take the car rental cost plus airfare and time share and spend 3 months in Florida! This is getting ridiculous! Hawaii is really nice in the winter – but not THAT nice!

  3. Love your sight and email updates. I searched the entire article for dreamliner and only saw it in the title. Can you fill us in on what routes will use the dreamliner?

  4. What good do all these direct flights do if they can’t even figure out how to get the vaccine passport implemented in a timely manner. And Maui is actually going backwards. Instead of making progress towards freedom they are determined to foster tyranny by requiring an additional test on arrival. It has now come to the point where humans have more hurdles to cross than dogs trying to get released from quarantine.

  5. I just hope the car rental situation clears up soon or those Canadians will be walking to their condos and hotels.
    Thanks for the update!

    1. Hi Joan.

Thanks for your many comments and the levity. Car rental in inventory and pricing will be improving.

      Aloha.

    2. We live in Northern Vermont, about an hour from Montreal. Right now, it takes minimum 16 hours and 2-3 connections to get to HNL. This will be wonderful. As soon as the border opens, that is. For now we’ve booked our flight through Chicago, with an overnight layover. I won’t plan this trip for this year, but maybe next! Mahalo BOH for keeping everyone in the loop!

      1. Hi Betty.

Thanks. We appreciate you letting us know that this new flight will be helpful to you in the future.

        Aloha.

  6. Hmmm… anybody worried about carbon output per passenger? If you believe in global warming and a future for our children, then putting people in the air for 10+ hours for purposes of a tropical vacation … after all, airliner carbon output per passenger on that kind of distance is astronomical.

      1. Maybe if you have to fly, there are closer spots to go to for an escape?

At the end, everybody’s gotta live with their own conscience. Those of us kamaaina who like go Vegas for gambling have the same issue.

      2. Biking to the coast, rowing to the islands, biking once there would be the ultimate ironhuman endeavor. Thanks

    1. Hi Lonnell.

There will now be many Hawaii routes of about 5k miles including Montreal, Toronto, Boston, New York and Orlando.

      Aloha.
