  1. That memory is seared into many people’s heads/hearts. I remember turning the early morning TV on and watching it all unfold before my eyes. Mahalo for the wonderful article. Maybe someday the TSA will have a better understanding of who is boarding an aircraft, making life a little easier for all of us.
    Aloha

  2. Mahalo Rob and Jeff for your respectful and caring tribute. So many promising lives were cut short, and I can’t help but wonder what some of the children who were on board the planes would have accomplished. May they rest in peace.

  3. I live in the Bay Area where a solid connection from Flight 93 exists but in reality, 9/11 served as a National connection for us all.

  4. My first trip to Hawaii I arrived late on 9/10, woke up to 9/11. Spent the day driving around Maui.
The flight back was certainly different than the flight there.

  5. I was at the W in Honolulu and I was grounded in Honolulu for 3 nights and the hotel waived all those charges.

  6. Well done tribute for the Hawaiian citizens who perished. I was commuting daily from SNA to Van Nuys using my small aircraft. I had just landed in Van Nuys when I hear of the tragedy. All GA aircraft were grounded for several weeks. Our lives have been changed for ever. Jon

  7. Here’s what no one talks about – a small company flight simulator company in Florida that made this possible. No one thought it odd that several foreigners were paying cash to take flight simulation lessons on Boeing 757 and 767??? Really l? Nope just pocket the cash and ask no questions. Without their specific simulation training 9/11 may not have happened. The terrorists didn’t get their training on an XBox or Nintendo. The other airport security lapses didn’t matter as much as the flight simulation training. Those are sophisticated aircraft.

  8. My wife and I were planning a trip to Hawaii at the 911 time. She came over first and was staying at Makaha when the attacks hit. I was due to join her on Sep 11, but all flights were canceled.

They allowed flights pretty soon after 911 and I was able to join her a couple of days after those terrible attacks.

  9. Thank you for listing the names of those from Hawaii who perished that awful, awful day. Thank you for providing information on each person. It saddens one to read it but we must remember each and every victim.
May those who died Rest In Peace and may their survivors know that there are millions who grieve for the loss of their loved ones.
