  1. I’m planning a trip to Oahu in August from Orange County, CA for myself. I can fly from LAX if I have to from else where. When should I start checking for airplane tickets to HNL on this website? I’m new to this website.

Please help me if you can.

    Thank you very much,

    Allen

    1. Hi Allen.

Southern California doesn’t see the best airfares to Hawaii. Typically $500. San Diego might be cheaper. Late summer prices might occur anytime from April on.

      Aloha.

  2. I am taking my two girls to Honolulu from June 11-18 2016, our hotel package is paid for already. We live in Colorado, my oldest would be flying out of Denver, but I will be traveling to San Diego with my youngest to attend a graduation. I have been looking at flights since June 2015, I don’t want to miss my best opportunity to buy. I am signed up to receive your emails, should I also consult with a travel agent to watch and purchase when the summer deals become available? What would be my buying price from both locations, Denver and San Diego?
    Thank you

    1. Hi Danielle.

About $800 and $1100. A little cheaper with long delays. That is peak season travel.

You can talk with a travel agent or do it yourself. Travel agents get no discounts and operate on a fee basis.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi! The current prices from Washington, DC area to Honolulu or the other islands are 1000+ for June/July. Do you think there will be any deals, or should we book as soon as possible? There is a nonstop flight to HNL for 1000. Looks like it went up $10-20 since the last time we checked. Thanks!

    1. Hi Nancy,

If you fly from OAK there is a $485 airfare to Honolulu on Alaska. 7/15-7/22. That’s a steal. Otherwise prices are moderate due to the intense competition from the bay area.

      Aloha.

  4. Hi, we would like to travel from LAX to Kona mid to late August 2016. We are wondering when we should buy tickets and what are the best prices we could expect?

    1. Hi Lori,

Best hope would be in the $400’s. Don’t know if or when that will materialize but for sure it is too early now. Maybe late spring or after. Stay tuned.

      Aloha.

  5. These are great prices. Do you have any inkling yet about prices a little later in the season? I am going in mid-May and would like to purchase airfare soon.
    Thanks!

    1. Hi Lianne,

Our gut feeling is that we may see similar prices for after spring break. You’ll have to be patient (which the airlines know we don’t like) as we don’t know when these might be released.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Sandy,

May is currently starting at $633 RT to Kona. Has potential to drop perhaps $75. Hasn’t happened yet though.

      Aloha.
