Hawaii Retains Indoor Mandate As Airline Mask Rules Uncertain

Ige says masks stay on for now. Flight attendants too want masks to remain. But what do consumers say?

  1. Thanks for the update Jeff and/or Rob. 😊

Wear a mask when they’re not required? You gotta be kidding, right?

I don’t plan to wear one when I’m alone in my car either.

    1. Hi Colleen.

You’re always a hoot. So we won’t see you in disguise in your car huh?

      Aloha. R/J

  2. So guessing that the flight attendants are not trusting “the science” behind HEPA filtration as to air qualty onboard commercial aircraft in spite of what their respective airlines have raved about.
And as far as Ige not relenting on the masking nonsense, who is really surprised by him contiuing on with it, again in spite of the science. Destroying Hawaii’s and its citizens lives apparently isn’t enough for him.

  3. It was only a few weeks ago as we retuned home to Kauai that my husband caught covid on the plane. There was an obviously sick family across the isle from us, coughing. I didn’t eat or have a cocktail, I kept my mask on the entire flight. We went home and quarantined. My husband ate and had a cocktail on the plane, he got covid, tested positive, was sick. Being 3 times vaccinated he recovered but it took about 2 weeks. I will continue to wear my mask on a plane. I wish others would too.

    1. No one is stopping you from continuing to wear a mask but your comment just goes to prove that these ‘jabs’ are useless from preventing you from getting Covid. It’s time to end all these ridiculous mandates. Enough is enough. Again, just because Ige or the Federal government ends the mandates doesn’t stop you from doing what you feel is right for you. As for me, I will not be wearing a useless mask, or taking the jab.

  4. So many residents of Hawaii continue to live in their pandemic bubble, not comprehending that masks can still be worn, not mandated.

  5. Thanks for all your very helpful reporting! When we’re in Hawaii, we are indoors so rarely – really only grocery shopping – that any continuing requirement to mask indoors would be almost meaningless to us. We would happily comply with any mask requirement for indoors. Even if Hawaii is the only state to continue indoor masking, can you really compare Hawaii to any other state? It’s so different in many ways.

  6. I will not wear a mask indoors so guess I will not be dining out in Hawaii. If masks are dropped on planes I will be thrilled. They don’t work.
    Aloha

  7. We are coming in May, and still plan to wear our masks on the flight. The flight attendants are right, those who can’t be vaccinated (think of the little kids and babies) or who are immunocompromised shouldn’t be put at risk. A person’s right not to wear a mask ends when their breath invades another person’s space—which is inevitable in a closed environment like a plane. Let’s be kind to one another and treat our neighbor as we would want the most vulnerable member of our own family treated.

  8. Yes I will continue wearing mine for awhile inside crowded situations. It’s too soon imho.

  9. No way! Haven’t worn a mask except when absolutely mandated. Let herd immunity work. I have traveled all over the country from the very beginning of this stupid pandemic and have never gotten sick. Let us live our lives with our own choices.

    1. Same! Except my whole household got COVID. We have school agers so they brought it home. No big deal – we were happy to have it done and over with and still have strong antibodies months later. The masks and vaccines don’t work. I feel bad for those that still believe they do and are so afraid to live without fear. I hope Ige finally relinquishes the control he feels he needs to have. People should be able to choose if they want to wear them or not.

  10. Wow, why remove the masks? Such nonsense is going to bring us back to tough restrictions down the road.
These masks have protected me so far and I have no intention of stopping using them.
