New Rules For Hawaii Travel After Covid Recovery

With more visitors arriving following Omicron, last week the state updated its exemption for Hawaii travel after Covid recovery.

  1. News flash folks 1.35 million Americans tested positive for covid today.

    As I’ve been saying for 2 years no matter testing, junk vaccination stabs and masking everyone is going to contact covid.

    Everyone of us.

    BOH Bro’s can verify my prediction from my passed 2 thousand odd comments

    Omicron is the variant that’s making my prediction come true.

      1. No, continue to test and it won’t go away.

        We certainly don’t want to waste billions of dollars of testing materials we paid for.

  2. Thank you for the information;particularly the clarification for returning residents. -lots of happy international travelers currently in Waikiki that don’t mind”jumping through the hoops”

  3. This is all really silly, I have antibodies, confirmed with a blood test, from June. I was exposed over the holidays while in Hawaii, and didn’t get it, so my antibodies are even higher. Why is Hawaii putting a whole bunch of rules on this that make zero sense? Omicron is going to be great for Hawaii. By April, you will be in the clear and all this will be for nothing! Except for the new upcoming variant they will be making up… Get a grip, it’s a joke at this point.

    1. It is not a joke for health care providers and hospital staff. Hawaii health officials are walking a tightrope trying to keep the Hawaiians health system from crashing and allowing tourists to support their economy. We are fortunate to be able to travel to Hawaii. Some of the arrogant comments criticizing their efforts to protect their state remind me of the “Ugly American” name, given to rude American tourists in Europe. Thank you for posting this exemption and the links to the application.

  4. Ha, let’s have people overwhelm the doctors offices even more then they all ready are by requesting letters to go on vacation.

    1. MS… Onl if you haven’t been vaccinated! Otherwise, it doesn’t matter – just fill out the Vaccination Exemption on Safe Travels. This only applies to unvaccinated but have had Covid (yielding post-Covid antibodies).

  5. Unless you absolutely have to eat indoors on the two islands that are only allowing the vaccinated (who can spread it around to each other) to eat indoors at restaurants, it’s just far easier to take a test, and not deal with all the other ridiculous hoops you have to jump through.

    The stupidity in all this political posturing is that it could be as simple as having to test before you leave, or when you arrive for all travelers. 🤦‍♂️

  6. Let me see if I may untie this Hawaiian Covid Gordian Knot.

    In order to be admitted as a 90 day prior Covid survivor one must:

    1. upload a Positive Covid Test that itself has 5 sub-element requirements;

    2. attach a letter from an M.D. having 3 sub-element requirements;

    3. transmit a confirmed date of departure;

    4. submit a Safe Travels form.

    But admission is “subject to change”.

    It is sheer brilliance. Hawaii’s plan is to eradicate COVID by smothering it with paper.

    1. HAYWARD…. Wrong!!! The rules you stated only apply if you are not vaccinated but have had Covid and are protected by post-COVID antibodies instead of vaccine protection!

      1. Sorry, let me try again if I may. My possibilities:

        I could have Covid but not be vaccinated;

        I could be vaccinated but not have Covid;

        I could be not vaccinated and not have Covid;

        I could have Covid and be vaccinated;

        With any of these possibilities I have antibodies;

        With any of these possibilities I do not have antibodies.

        Presumably each of these singularly or in combination present a different Hawaiian requirement.

        Got it. Thanks for clearing up for me.

  7. This makes no sense The CDC pulled the PCR test.
    After December 31, 2021, CDC will withdraw the request to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) of the CDC 2019-Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV) Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel,

  8. Is a booster required or is a two dose vac pass the test. We travelled to Kauai with clear pas can we do same for Oahu on June?

    1. JEFF S… Last I heard/read was that the universal definition of “vaccinated” was going to include having had the booster. But have never heard/read anything other than rumor.

  9. This just cracks me up. Why bother with all the rules and regulations. It’s already been proven that people are using false tests and vax cards to travel and now there are all these complicated processes for “exemptions”. Meanwhile there are tons of restrictions for all of us living here in Hawaii. It’s all about the money and not keeping people safe. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t have let a cruise ship dock here and offload a bunch of passengers when they had positive covid cases aboard.

  10. Please explain the situation if you recovered more than 90 days before your trip. Example would be positive test on December 30, 2021 and ticket to Maui on April 14. You are recovered. What is needed if anything to avoid quarantine? Thank you very much.

    1. Hi Nancy.

      When outside the period for the recovered exemption, you must comply with either testing or vaccination according to Safe Travels.

      Aloha.
