  1. American 787 from Dallas to Honolulu in first class
    Second choice is
Hawaiian Airbus A330 Las Vegas or Austin to Honolulu in first class
Yes, I am a bit spoiled. I only go once a year or every other year.

  2. I’m just old enough to remember flying on (and loving) DC-10s and L-1011s to Hawaii in the ‘90s. Let’s just say that the 737-900ER I flew on 5 years ago lacked a “sense of occasion,” at best. Same with Hawaiian’s A321neo. But there’s something about the 757 that helps to bridge the gap…maybe it’s the widebody layout in a narrow body cabin? Whatever it is, it certainly doesn’t bum me out:)

  3. First trip to the islands was on a UA DC-8 SFO-Ogg in 1986 followed by AA, UA and CO DC-10. One memorable flight was on the way back from SE Asia on SQ. After a brief hop from Cgk on an A310 (first and only), flew on a 747-300 Sin-Tpe-Hnl (with a 1 week layover) then to Lax on another SQ 743. Later flew 767-300 and -400, 330, 757, 321 and 737.

DC-10s were my all time favorite but I can’t forget my first, the DC-8. (Forever reminded of the Hawaii 5-0 intro) Flew most of the majors over the years to Hnl mostly but regret not having the opportunity to fly PA or TW to the islands. The 321s and 737s just don’t do it for me.

  4. We flew from san diego to honolulu recently in premium economy on an alaska max 9 and it was awesome. Very comfortable and quiet. Nice to be in a new aircraft.
