Hello, could you please tell me best time to book a flight Seattle to Maui Sat Dec 3 – Dec 10 ? We could have flown Fri Dec 2 return Sat dec 10 for $464 a couple days ago.. now that flight $578 Did we miss the big sale?
Do you see the rates dropping for Sat-sat or Fri-Sat DEC 2/3-10 in the near future?
Thank you!
Hi Matthew.
Prices for fall are fluctuating quite a bit and sales are reoccurring (though no one knows just when). While Saturdays are problematic, it should still improve somewhat. Just hang in there. It is still early and that route if very competitive.
Aloha.
I’m searching flights deals from RDU to Kona for the fall 2016 for 3 adults. My dates are flexible. I’ve not found any flights under $883 per person. We are willing to fly to California stay the night and fly to Kona the next day if it saves money. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Sarah
Hi Sarah,
There are American fares in that market at $716, but they require long layovers so are undesirable. Thursday, Saturday and Sunday departures. There’s room for improvement so suggest waiting a bit longer. Say until September if need be. Availability should not be an issue. Kona is expensive from LA, and pretty much everywhere, so a stopover isn’t going to help.

We travel to Kauai every year. We live in Lincoln, Ne but can fly out of either Omaha or Lincoln. What would be the best connection price wise for us to try and make happen?
I am looking for airfare from Nashville to Honolulu. My dates are completely flexible. I clicked on Nashville, but couldn’t find anything with the price you listed. And is the price one way or round trip? I’m be grateful for some guidance/direction.
Hi Danielle.
Currently best fares in that market are just under $800 RT. Those were available when published. As we have said many times and as stated in the post, you needed to book that right away. Deals we post which are often very far below normal prices, can disappear within a matter of hours. Best way to get these is to subscribe to our updates and book right away if you see ones that work. BNA gets very few deals to/from Hawaii.
Fares listed are each way based on round trip purchase.

Aloha,
I am researching a vacation to Honolulu from Orlando, FL. What is the best airline or route to take considering i am traveling with young children.
Mahalo and Happy Aloha Friday!
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
Fastest routing is on Delta via Houston, at just under 12 hours. American is about an hour longer. You generally pay more as the duration decreases, if that makes sense. Best deal this fall is on American at $668 – many dates available if you act now.

Tulsa to Maui June 2017. It’s early, but these airfares are insane at $1250 rt, even $1100 pp rt from DFW. I have a condo booked at the Kapalua Bay Villas but am concerned about these airfares. I’ve read your suggestions but am concerned about flights filling up for these direct from Dallas to OGG flights. I’m open to any advice. Is it too early for a ‘mahalo’? Ha
Hi Monty.
We’re finding about $1,100 with reasonable connection from Tulsa. We also see just under $900 using a combination of airlines from DFW (checking using an OTA since it isn’t a single carrier routing).
Not sure that the prices will improve. Normal for the route has been about $1,000+ for after June 10.
You might want to book sooner than later if your trip and dates are certain.
Aloha.
Thank you very much, your response and time are appreciated.
Hello i am wanting to get tickets for my husbands 5oth, two adults two kids for jan or feb 2017 flying out of las vegas?
Hello! I am stressing trying to figure out the most affordable way to travel to Kauai during thanksgiving week 2016. It is a family trip. Four of us leave from DTW and two from OAK or SFO. Should the DTW folks book RT to SFO and a separate booking for six of us from SFO to LIH? Or should the DTW crew book straight thru to LIH. Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.
Jane
Hi Jane.
Rule of thumb is that if the DTW people aren’t doing a real stopover, it is better logistically and in terms of cost to just meet up in Hawaii. That way there will be no issues with miss connections, or baggage rechecking and security (if using multiple tickets).
Aloha.
Does United ever put fights to Honolulu or Maui on sale? Please advise what is best time of year from Houston.
Mahalo!
Hi Al,
Not so much. The reason is that Houston is their hub, so sales from Houston to Hawaii are usually on their competitors who are attacking that hub. Fall and spring is the best time.
Aloha.
We are looking to go visit friend on Kauai in around April 10 2017, we are flying out of Salt Lake City, UT. Any advice on when would be a good time to book for that and what a good price might be?
Hi!
I’m looking to book a flight for me and my sister 12/13-12/21 from Dallas (probably fly to a gateway city with cheaper fares). Do you foresee any winter/holiday sales coming up or should I just buy right now?
Thanks,
Tam
Hi Tam.
Those dates will be problematic and there will be no deals. Since you didn’t say, we checked HNL as the destination, and fares are from $799 (Delta with one stop, good connection) to $1,014 (American nonstop). Suggest buying now.
Aloha.
Hello, please advise the best time to buy roundtrip from San Diego to KOA for Oct. 12th travel. Wanting non stop of course or could possibly do one quick layover. Thank you.
Hi Jackie.
Not a very competitive route. Prices start in the mid $400’s but with either two stops or long layover. Reasonable routing starts at $550. If you want nonstop you have to fly on the 13th on Alaska for $528 RT as that doesn’t operate on the 12th. Prices might improve if you wait and certainly no harm in doing so (except for nonstop which could have availability issues) for your low season dates. When might that happen? No one knows that answer.
Aloha.
‘Not sure how I really feel about labeling my home airport (SMF) “unusual”…. as in the email header, “Airfare Sales from Unusual Cities….” 😉 But it *is* the state capitol, so perhaps “unusual” is an appropriate descriptor….
Hi Tonya.
Ha. Well sad but true – deals from Sacramento to Hawaii have become unusual.
Aloha.
Aloha from Cincinnati!!
I just wanted to thank all you good people from Beat for all the good advice. By following your leads and advice I was able to book RT from CVG to Honolulu for $634 with one short layover in DFW this morning!! Thanks soooo much for great advice!!
Have a wonderful!!
Susan
Hi Susan.
Thanks very much for letting us know. Have a great time in Hawaii!
Aloha.
Susan please share. I never see promos out of CVG.
Ginger, Sorry so late answering this but just now saw it. I just watched fares pretty much on a daily basis leaving from CVG DAY and IND + once in a while I would check COL and LEX. You really really need to be able to check frequently since prices can change sooo much in such a short period of time. My flight is on American and I found that right on their website. Hope you have or will soon find a great deal too! Have fun in Hawaii!!
Gah! I hesitated too long on booking the East Coast flights in the 600’s yesterday. Would you expect another flash sale for October/November?
There was an awesome deal from Chicago to Honolulu this past May. The lowest prices I’ve ever seen. Any more Chicago deals this year? Deals out of ORD seem few and far between– why is that?
Do you expect fares to go lower than $846 for late Sep, early Oct travel?
Sorry, forgot to add from Omaha to Kauai!
Hi Tina.
Best prices for purchase at this time are from $758 on Delta (3 stops), and $812 on Alaska. American(fastest connection) is nearer $900. It could go lower and would be best to wait. No rush as little demand in off season.
Aloha.
