  1. Fascinating, these planes look like the spaceships I used to draw as a kid. We are living in the future!

  2. Aloha kakahiaka

  3. I noticed that United is also talking about using electric aircraft for shorter range flights.

  4. Electric equipment is interesting. In order to be of benefit we would need to ensure that the electricity used to charge these aircraft is produced sustainably and we do not simply replace aviation fuel oils with power station fuel oils.

    The B787 is welcome news. Far superior to the Airbus equipment and good to support USA jobs. A London flight once more (Honolulu used to be a stopover from London on transpacific flights by British carriers pre 747) would greatly increase the appeal for European visitors and make business travel from Hawaii much easier as would the Eastern routes. There is also the possibility of using 788 (the smaller version) on key inter island routes in peak periods like the holidays as the runway required (albeit with reduced payload) would be more compliant with Hawaiian airports (notably Kauai.). These could be purely inter island making use of down time between long haul usage or even international flights stopping over in Honolulu where maximum Pax and Freight traffic would originate and where the runways would allow MTOW operation on long haul flights where the extra fuel adds substantial weight.

    I have to say though that I will mourn the passing of the 717 which is the last in the line of DC9 derivatives. Much the same as the 747. We know things change with economic circumstances but they both have a distinct personality that many other planes lack,

  5. Electric Interisland airplanes??

    Let me just say;

    Dream on, I’d rather swim.

    Mahalo Beat of Hawaii. You made me laugh 🤣🌺

  6. “Hawaiian confirmed earlier this year it will take delivery of the first two of ten 787s late in 20221“

    I’ll never live to see it, lol. Mahalo for the information. Valuable resource for all my Hawaii trips. Hopefully we can weather the spike and return to the islands soon
