Los Angeles To Hawaii From $111 With Today’s Fare Drop

A new, unadvertised sale has just landed this morning on flights from Los Angeles to Hawaii, starting at $112 each way. This includes departures beginning August 17 and for nearly four months thereafter. It spans multiple airlines, with options available even on some weekends.

What to know about this deal.

This is not a full-on fare war, but it’s still a very good airfare. United, Southwest, and Delta are all offering reduced fares on the LAX to Kona route. The lowest prices are in basic economy, while regular economy costs about $50 more each way.

Mainland departure dates currently run through December 3, with returns available through December 12. That could change at any time. These sales are always pulled without notice. Expected duration is one day.

Availability is good right now but far from universal. Not every airline, flight or date qualifies. You’ll need to hunt for the lowest fares. We suggest using Google Flights to quickly scan for best dates and pricing.

What you get for that price.

These are basic economy tickets, meaning you’ll board later and sit where assigned. A carry-on is included, although on United, that’s limited. But checked bag fees apply. Some seats and travel dates, especially around holidays, may be priced slightly higher.

Still, sub-$250 round trip fares from the mainland to Hawaii are very rare these days—especially outside of shoulder-season months. That’s why this one caught our eye.

Weekend, late summer and fall travel included.

Unlike many prior deals, this one includes some weekend travel options. You’ll need to look carefully, but we found fares on Saturdays and Sundays scattered throughout all of the months on sale. If you’re flexible on your return date, you can often find better combinations and the cheapest pricing.

Why this matters now.

These sales are important because they show fares are softening again after several months of high prices and limited promotions. While not every city is included, Los Angeles is one of the most competitive gateways to Hawaii, and that often signals broader trends.

It also gives travelers a small window to score a fall trip before holiday pricing kicks in. November and December are already seeing rising fares, so this is likely a limited-time gap.

Will other cities join this sale?

While this deal is specific to Los Angeles to Kona, we’ll be watching to see if San Diego, San Jose, or others follow. Sales like this often ripple out in waves after starting, especially if an airline sees strong early bookings and others want to compete.

If you book this deal—or spot others—let us know. We’ll keep tracking. Mahalo!

  1. Wow! Thanks to this article I was able to cancel and rebook my upcoming trip to Hawaii with the exact same flights and saved $300.00 over what I had originally paid for two tickets. I am using Southwest and we depart from San Diego to Hilo late August and return mid September.
