  1. Aloha, this is as unfortunate as the pandemic itself.
Our family on Maui have worked since the mid 70s plus generations of visitors to all the islands.
If we could “wave a magic wand” to ease your fearsof visiting any of our islands, we certainly would!
We miss our visitors in hospitality. We have always supported our neighbor islands of The Big Island of Hawaii,Oahu, Kauai, as well our Maui Nui.
Those of us fortunate enough to live & work here with visitors to enjoy the awesome beauty of each island within the Hawaiian Islands chain await with the world & bless everyones’overall health & happiness.
    That day will come.
When it does for our family, Maui, we look forward in assisting our visitors again to enjoy the many awesome, historical & cultural sites
of very many beauiful places to visit on each of our islands.
We know each island is “unique” in their own right.
It is important we direct our visitors to whatever, where ever they request, to fullfill their dreams.
    Regardless of which island.
Of importance to us are our “island visitors” to assist them in creating the best ever vacation in “sharing the beauty of each island.” It will be up to us to point our future visitors to places they ask or dream. We realize the vast significance each islands’beauty & cultural differnces as each presents themselves.
Island visitors spend a lot of time & more livihood,(many saved years),important we each devote our best overall knowledge each wish we can assist them with regardless of which island, each island “magnificent in its’ own right”, share our knowledge, culture, beauty & undying love within
Afterall, the pandemic, many visitors deserve the eternal love & grace within us all fortunate enough to live, work & make dreams come true whereever that may lead.
Each island bursts of its history, beauty & culture with appreciation & Aloha.
We are grateful so many visitors believe enough in us to persevere dignity & loyality to them as we do daily to one another.

  2. Aloha & mahalo everyone from Maui.

It was our understanding “especially throughout the islands”, we were “all in this together:, I guess not”!

Mahalo for letting Mauians know how the Big Island of Hawaii and Oahu residents truly feel about the “people of Maui”. Unbelievable, not even in our hands, thanks everyone.

  3. Mahalo! Your information, input and wisdom is priceless. We could not plan a trip to Lihue and Honolulu in September without your help. Aloha!

  4. We will be traveling to Kauai in June and was wondering if the Saliva test or mouth swab is acceptable for the COVID NAAT pre-test?
    Thank you
    Nancy

      1. We used the test through Vault and it worked out well. Just have be careful if you are Are arriving on Tues or Wed due to weekend shipping.

Go to the OFFICAL Hawaii site for authorized providers.

  5. David R, Dude, when did Hawaii become it”s our country. It’s part of the USA. Remember those checks people keep getting from the feds? (My taxes dollars) Your allowed to visit the mainland without all the restrictions.

    1. I’m a resident of Kauai. My mainland family cancelled their trip to Kauai because of the unreasonable travel rules. Met them on Oahu and spent last week and our money there. It is sad to see so many closed Kauai business and restaurants. Got my required COVID test for the return to Kauai at the Kidney Foundation site at the Hawaiian Monarch Hotel with same day results. Highly recommend them. Very friendly and helpful staff.

  6. My husband and I returned from our vacation in Maui on April5,2021. The restrictions imposed on incoming visitors regarding getting a Covid test from one of Hawaii’s authorized “ Trusted Travel Partners” within the specified timeframe was a hassle and expensive ($200.00 each) but we managed. While waiting for our results a woman and her 9 year old child came to the test site asking about getting a “ Third “ Covid test for her child. Apparently mother and child tested positive on their first test but husband was negative.Mother was negative on her second test but daughter was still positive.. All were asymptomatic. It made us wonder how many “ False Positive” tests have caused vacation plans to be cancelled at the last minute and how we would feel if we were one of this false positives. It gave us pause for sure and would probably make us rethink Hawaii in the future if these restrictions continue. Not worth the stress. Our hearts went put to that poor family.

  7. When we were there last October, just after the Safe Travels program started, we waited in line over 2 hours just to show our negative test results. I can only imagine the wait times with this!

  8. Did this mayor take some “acid” and screw her mind up? She acting as asinine as that idiot mayor in Kauai. Why do these politicians want to keep tourists away? They are showing their true colors Aloha is a joke….

  9. We are going to be traveling in a week to Eugene, Oregon, to visit my 97 year old dad.
Both my husband I completed the Pfizer vaccination 2 weeks ago. As far as I know, we do not need to pre-test to enter Oregon but please let me know if we need to take the Covid NAAT pre-test before flying back to Oahu.
    Mahalo

  10. Well, we’ll have to cancel our trip scheduled for May. After reading this we canceled our Luau, our 2 sailing trips and our Mothers Day dinner. Since the city and county of Maui cannot answer our questions about how long we will be forced to quarantine until the results return, we cannot hope that our excursions go as scheduled as we wait out the results from our resort. We have much kuleana for the islanders, already postponing our annual trip twice from last year, we were hoping that since more than a dozen mainland states have reopened no more restrictions would be added, just weeks before we arrive. We got our vaccinations for covid. We were ready for the pretrip test. But now, we are being asked to be locked up in our room for 48-72 (or more) even with these compliances. It saddens us and we wish those affected by the loss of income the best.
Aloha Nui to everyone who made the last 10 years wonderful.
But there are other places that needs our support instead.

    1. I thought the second test at the airport was quick? You mean that we will have to quarantine until results come back from that? I’m not sure that I want to travel to Maui if that’s the case.
