    1. I love our islands dearly but just want to make it clear that one of the main reasons masks and vaxxing mandates are gone is that the vaxxed and masked are catching Covid at nearly the same rate as those who aren’t. And closer examination has proven that states were misreporting Covid death victims who died of other causes. It’s a terrible thing for anyone to die unnecessarily but worse when state surgeon generals deliberately order misreporting. I don’t usually spout on this but I had to. Aloha

  2. Thanks BOH for all of your updates. Your info is greatly appreciated!

We are so very happy for the locals to have Covid restrictions lifted and no longer have to wear masks while working. We felt for all the employees and long time friends who work at the resorts we stay at and the restaurants. They had told us that dealing with guests and visitors while wearing a mask in the warm weather was extremely exhausting.

    Aloha!

  3. After 2 1/2 years and 3 cancellations we will be arriving on April 1 for 5 wonderful weeks on Oahu. It’s been a long time…we were there in January 2019 when covid reared it’s ugly head…so looking forward to making up for three cancelled trips. A heartfelt thank you to BOH for keeping us updated through all this…you are appreciated.

    1. Hi Victoria.

Thanks for saying that. We’re glad you are returning next month and hope you have a fabulous time.

      Aloha.

  4. It was stunning to see how much power governors wielded over citizens, under the guise of “ emergency”. This is problematic when the norms were all over the place around the country. Free states showed strong resolve and adherence to our Founding Fathers and their true vision of a free America.

  5. Thank goodness the “Emergency” is over, although I thought those kind of proclamations were reserved for Tsunamis, Hurricanes, Earthquakes or when someone, “Pushed da wrong button”. Two years in an emergency state. The people here on Kauai will still be scared, wearing their masks alone in their cars and in stores, restaurants etc. If that’s what they wanna do, fine with me as long as I don’t have to. This is by the way, America.

    1. Hey J.T is that the same America that managed to kill almost a million people with stupid anti mask anti vax nonsense. Some are scared for good reason!!

  6. I’m sure I am in the minority, but I am disappointed that vaccines or testing are no longer required and soon masks will be gone on airplanes. I have been coming to the islands because the requirements gave me a lot of comfort. I am over 65 and have underlying conditions so I need to be very careful. But…. coming over on April 14th and wearing my mask even if they do not require them on the flight home.

    2. I totally agree with you and I know we are in the minority. I too am older, over 70 and feel more vulnerable to illness. I will continue to wear my mask at indoor venues with close quarters. I hope the public will be kind to those that feel the need to do so.

      1. This is America, wear that mask if you want, on the plane, while you sleep, whatever! there are always those “haters” but the majority of people will be kind and won’t care

    3. Airlines still require masks according to the flight I am taking after spring break is over. During spring break would be the very worst time for a senior to visit Hawaii, even without a compromised immune system.

  7. Safe Travels Program ends at midnight tonight, March 25th, 2022. If you are arriving on the 26th or after, lucky you. No QR codes, no lines, no verifications. It’s done.
