There’s more good news again today for Hawaii visitors and our tourism industry. Aggressive Canadian carrier Westjet just announced three routes to Hawaii for this coming winter.

The company is bringing on two leased 757-200 airplanes obtained from Thomas Cook. The planes seat 235 all economy passengers. The new planes allow for the additional distances between Alberta and Hawaii as well as more seats than their current 737’s. As you may recall from the Aloha Airlines days, going much beyond the west coast of North America (from Hawaii) is not consistently possible with a full load using a 737.
The three new snowbird routes are:
- Calgary – Honolulu three times a week
- Calgary – Kahului four times a week
- Edmonton – Kahului three times a week
Routes are seasonal from December 13 through April.
