I’ve worked at a couple of airports,ie. SFO and SJC…San Francisco, San Jose in excess of 17 years. In both instances, there were backup generators that would “kick in”, usually in 10 to 15 seconds, however, these generators only power emergency lighting and the server rooms of computer systems. It’s unfortunate that power outages happen and the people attempting to restore power are trying to organize and proceed with caution in case a major component has exploded in old equipment. There’s just too many factors that have to be investigated to ensure that no employee gets injured during the restoration process.
There’s a time and place to be on “Hawaiian Time” and this isn’t one of them. Glad I can fly directly to Kona.
Hawaiian Electric not Hawaii Electric.
Hawaiian Electric is correct. https://www.hawaiianelectric.com/
