  1. My wife and I are looking to travel to Hawaii for Memorial Day weekend in 2015 from preferably Salt Lake City, but we could drive to Las Vegas to catch a flight to Oahu. Allegiant appears to have a total cost of around $360 RT per person from Las Vegas (including taxes, but not including luggage fees). Should prices be going down anytime soon for any of the carriers?

    1. Hi Phil.

If you’re in the mood for Las Vegas, then Allegiant is a good choice. Otherwise, fares from SLC are pretty good, running about $500. Check both Alaska Airlines and Delta Airlines.

      Aloha.

  2. Hello just wondering, tickets are currently $370 RT from OAK to HNL for Aug 26th for 7 nights, is this a good deal or could they possibly drop more? Thanks.

  3. Hi,

I am looking to travel from any bay area airports to Maui with no specific travel dates required. I was wondering when you would suggest would have the best flight deals? I’m hoping to get a flight in the 300 range.

    1. Hi Victoria,

Since you don’t have dates in mind, just subscribe to our free emails and we’ll let you know when the next sale happens. There should be something quite soon for spring 2015.

      Aloha.

  4. I am planning to travel from BOS-HNL on Aug. 20. Right now the fare is $783. Is this a good price or wait until early summer to buy like you suggested? Suggestions?

    1. Hi Judy,

Boston doesn’t see many deals on Hawaii travel. It seems that about $700 is the best you’re likely to find.

      Aloha.

  5. Aloha – we are thinking of a trip to the Big Island from April 3 -12, 2015 from San Diego. Do you think there will be any good airfares deals for our dates. Also do you know any hidden gems to stay in Kona area. We usually stay at the Outrigger Napili Shores on Maui and love it – nice, but not over the top with great beach access. We are a family of 5.

    Maholo

    1. Hi Scott,

No it is highly unlikely that any breaks on airfare will occur during spring break. If they do it will be last minute.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi! We are planning to fly into Honolulu to stay at the military resort at the beginning of June from Oakland, CA. Will tickets stay about the price they are at now? Hate to wait to long to book! Thanks!

  7. We are traveling to HNL Dec 25 – Jan 1. Airlines should be releasing those dates in a few weeks. Should we get ready to buy ASAP or wait a few months? Do you know the avg price I should expect to pay for these dates? (SLC-HNL) Thanks in advance!! Love this site!!! 🙂

    1. Hi Caridee,

Interesting situation. Typically flying on the holidays themselves is the best priced option over the expensive holiday period. Those particular dates can go down in price later, or the airlines may already adjust for them in their initial pricing released 330 days in advance. On those specific dates a good price might be in the range of $550 RT.

      Aloha.

  8. We live in Virginia and want to go visit relatives on Oahu as soon as we can to get away from this cold and get some sunshine! Where is the least expensive place to leave from? We’re willing to drive a few hours to save! And when is the best time to leave from here? Aloha!

    1. Hi Ann,

There aren’t very good Hawaii deals within driving distance of Virginia. Starting in mid-April the airfares from Washington DC (DCA) are running about $700. You may not be able to do better than that unless there is an unexpected sale.

      Aloha.

  9. Hi, we are planning a trip May 22-29 from LAX. Right now he airfare is $570. Is that a good price given the timeframe and the holiday weekend?

    1. Hi Kelly,

There should be somewhat lower prices for that time period from LAX. That could happen at any time.

      Aloha.

    2. Today tickets when down to $483 from LAX – HNL for May 22 – 29. that is almost $100 cheaper than what is was yesterday – will it keep going down or is this a grab it kinda deal?

  10. We are traveling from San Jose, CA to the Big Island (KOA) at the end of April for 12 days. Air fare as of now is about $515 RT. I see that you’ve said post spring break prices aren’t out yet, but Im wondering if they’ll be lower than this. Any thoughts? We have already booked our condo, and I don’t want to miss the boat on getting airline tix, since there is only 1 nonstop flight offered. Thank you!

    1. Hi Maya,

It is likely that the price will come down somewhat for your dates. On the other hand, that isn’t guaranteed, and you could end up missing that nonstop on your preferred dates. Bird in hand vs. one in the bush.

      Aloha.
