Hello: We just booked a flight today for June 2-9th from Seattle to Maui nonstop on Hawaiaan for $427/person. There is 4 of us. I can cancel up to tomorrow morning. Should I keep the $427 or wait a few weeks to try to get it down to $400? Any advice?! thank you! Jeff

For that Saturday in peak summer, doesn’t look like it will improve. You’d have to change to mid-week, the following week, to get a better price. Then it might drop by 50%.

I totally agree with another reader. I know we’re a smaller market than LA etc but it does seem a bit discriminatory that Portland never has any cheap airfare to Hawaii. My family will be paying $500+ pp to go to Honolulu in July. Seriously????
For years now, Portland/Seattle has seldom had good sales. When UA used to fly from Seattle it seemed better along with Continental & NWA flying from Portland. HA and Alaska seem to a tight hold on PDX…unless you’re willing to fly through San Fran where there are more options. Good luck!

She will need to fly on a Friday out of Rapid City SD and is only purchasing one way to Honolulu at this time as unsure of the return date. In the low $500’s and might or not improve because you are coming right after the holiday weekend. Earlier in May airfares are running about $350 mid-week. You should know in another month or so which way it is going to go.

As we just mentioned to another visitor from the Pacific Northwest, no you won’t be seeing these fares. It is largely related to Southwest on the other routes, and they will not be flying to Oregon or Washington as far as we know.

The best price I’ve found for a family of 3 is around $1,600 in August, including the inter island flight at $177 per person. Would you advise booking this far in advance and is this a good price? Too early to look ahead as flights can only be booked 330 days in advance. You’re probably going to spend $900 RT with reasonable connection to either destination. And you can’t come mid-December looking for any kind of deal. Lower prices would require round trip be completed by about December 10.Traveling to the west coast on a separate ticket isn’t going to improve that.

Two airlines with inter-island flights, Southwest and Hawaiian. Take your pick. For one week, would suggest you stay put on one island. You will lose a half day changing islands and a week isn’t very long.
