Alaska Air Expands Hawaii Service

islandsMore good news for California-based Hawaii travelers.  Alaska Airlines will be adding new services from Oakland starting this fall:

Oakland to/from Kahului

  • 4 times weekly starting November 9
  • Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday
  • Depart Oakland 745am, Arrive Kahului 1105am
  • Depart Kahului 1205pm, Arrive Oakland 710pm

Oakland to/from Kona

  • 3 times weekly starting November 10
  • Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday
  • Depart Oakland 745am, Arrive Kona 1115am
  • Depart Kona, 1215pm, Arrive Oakland 730pm

Introductory Fare

Alaska is charging $169 each way on the above routes for tickets purchased by May 21. This is a reasonable price if you’d like to lock in your dates well in advance.

What’s next for Alaska?

Starting early July

  • Seattle to Honolulu will see a second daily trip
  • Portland to Kahului service begins in July

Also, depending on economic conditions, I expect to see Alaska add services between

  • Oakland and Lihue
  • Orange County and Hawaii

  1. Given that the travel industry is in trouble right now, its great to see Alaksa stepping up with more routes. Its just a shame that are still charging baggage fees 🙁

  2. Jeff,
Thank you for posting. This is great news. My wife and I flying to Maui this weekend on Alaska Air from Oaktown. The pain is having to transfer in Seattle.
