  1. Good morning!
We live in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and are wondering if there are any good deals ever offered to travel to Hilo or Kona from here. We could travel out of MIA, FLL OR PBI.

    Mahalo Nui Loa

    1. Hi Sabra.

With good connection, in off-season, prices to KOA from FLL or MIA start about $700. Up to $100 less with horribly long (20+ hour) connections. Hilo is always more money.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi looking for RT tickets for 2 aldults to Honolulu from Atlanta Ga, or Charlotte NC, or Greenville SC. Want to go August 12-19 2018. Do you have any flights out of these airports?

  3. my husband and I are looking for air and hotel for Ohau March8-15 2019.
Any infor/help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Rona

    1. Rona – A few suggestions from a traveler. Remember, Southwest deals come out for comparison (Dec. 2018? / Jan. 2019?) However, your March 2019 date may be cutting it too close. But you can start now = Do your homework on the hotels that come in the Hawaiian Airlines flight/hotel packages so there are no surprises. Many/most have added costs like “resort fee” and “parking fee.” Read everything closely. Also, read the hotel reviews. Those extra fees can add $50 or more to the DAILY costs. Hawaii and Oahu are amazing. Best wishes. – Rick

    1. Hi Marsha.

Go glad that worked out for you. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer person. 🙂

      Aloha.

  4. Hi, we’re looking to travel from Oakland, Ca to Honolulu Mid Octorber to early Nov this year, can you please advice when it’s best to book for flights? Thank you for your help!

  5. Hi! We are planning a trip from Phoenix to Maui 9/17/18-9/24/18, when would be the best time to book flights to get the best prices?

  6. Check your emails daily, however nothing is ever from the Salt Lake City area to HNL. Looking for a good fare.

  7. May husband and I have plans to travel to Maui inJune of 2019, we live in Central Texas, is there any deals flights from Texas? Is the date to far off to book?

    1. Hi Debbie Jo.

No there will not be any deals. Traveling in June means high season, and you will do best to plan to buy 11 months in advance. That goes for airfare, accommodations and car. From 2nd week of June on, it is peak season and Hawaii easily gets oversold.

      Aloha.

      1. So flying from Texas (Austin area)will we have to fly to CA then catch a flight to Hawaii, or is there any flights from Texas?

        1. Hi Debbie. Technically possible in the future with the new longer range narrow body aircraft.

          Aloha.

  8. Hello,

Pretty anxious about flights out of N. CA. Planning to go 7/5-7/13 and can’t seem to find anything less than $650-$830 RT!?!? Willing to go out of any reasonably priced airport as long as it is a nonstop flight. Went in June 2016 and paid $438 RT. Can I have your opinion on buying now or waiting, please? Mahalo!

    1. Hi Nikki.

You didn’t indicate where you are going. Checking Maui $418 RT, Honolulu $496 RT on United for your dates.

      Aloha.

  9. Those are great deals, too bad I can’t get off work on that short of notice.
I did receive a email along with yours today from Matthew Bennett’s First Class Flyer newsletter that states:

New $614 to $998 R/T Fares Found to Hawaii Business Class From Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Oakland, Phoenix, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle,
When was the last time you saw Business Class fares this low to Hawaii?

Now you have subscribe to his news letter to get the facts, perhaps it’s tied in with your discount deal. do you know anything or any Beat of Hawaii reader know about this and want to share?
    Mahalo & Aloha
    Lee

    1. Hi Lee.

We rarely cover premium inasmuch as it isn’t what most of our visitors seek. Those fares you mentioned are very limited in dates, not in best cabins, and most required stopovers.

      Aloha.

  10. We are going to be in Maui April 3rd-18th. We have family on kawaii and we’re wonder what inner island would run us if we wanted to head over there on the back end?

    Thanks Much!

    1. Hi Tammy.

Plan on flights costing $200 rt (it’s time of day/day of week dependent). Plus car and accommodations. Early April will be very busy everywhere, so might want to start checking and booking, especially if towards your arrival dates.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Rob.

No they are not. Limited market. Typically starting at $500 RT and best might be $400.

      Aloha.

  11. We are going to Kauai in June to scout for a place to rent and are not able to take advantage of the low rates. We may be able to use the low rates later when we move there from Seattle.

  12. Love, love, LOVE Beat of Hawai’i! I am moving back to Hawai’i and saw in today’s email that I could fly Alaska Airlines for $99, jumped on it, and got me a ticket! You guys ROCK!!

  13. Mahalo!!

Don’t usually take mini-vacations mid week, but this deal was too good to pass up. SFO | OGG early MAY for $197…. just count not beat that.

    1. Hi Valerie.

We concur. If we weren’t already booked this deal is too good to pass up. Glad it worked out.

      Aloha.

  14. Hi, when it says Maui $99 with April dates and a May 1st date the flight must be used by that date?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    1. Hi Jim.

We indicated those are the available departure dates. There are quite a few return dates and those vary by route. If you indicate which route, we’ll be glad to give you those.

      Aloha.

        1. Hi Jim.

Then these definitely won’t work for you. This is just April/May travel. Travel after peak of summer will have many more deals ahead – we won’t really start to see those for at least another month or two.

          Aloha.

  15. The $146 each way sounds great, as long as you don’t mind 2 stops and even with that the lowest I saw was $426 ($213 each way) so its a low price…but the pain of dealing with multiple stops would have me willing to spend a bit more.

  16. Our daughter is getting married on Maui June 9. We’d like to go from 5 – 11 then hop over to Oahu for another few days perhaps till the 15th. Any suggestions on when to buy? Should we should buy RT to Maui then an island hop or a multi city ticket?

    Thanks so much,

    Milly

    1. Hi Milly.

No starting location was indicated. So generally, you are largely traveling in high season. May 5 should have good fares since it is mid-week and low season. But 11th and 15th are high season. Probably best to buy it all now unfortunately, due to mixed high/low seasonality. Multi-city will save you a lot of time and probably be just as good financially.

      Aloha.

  17. We are looking for flights from San Jose, Oakland, San Francisco or Sacramento to Kauai 8/2518-9/1/18. I have been watching fates for months. Any ideas as to the best time to purchase? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you. Christie

    1. Hi Christie.

Generally suggest waiting until late spring to early summer. Problem will be your Saturday departure/return as those are always more expensive. Best hope is in the low $400’s, though again the Saturdays may not work out at that price.

      Aloha.

  18. Hello – Just a question regarding getting from Seattle to either Maui or Oahu. I saw the post today where it says $246 from SEA to HNL. Where is that coming from? Is there a specific date? I put in a 4/23 thru 4/26 trip from SEA to HNL and its coming in thru the link (expedia at $517) Is it just mainly based on Dates?

Thanks for your help. We enjoy your site

    1. Hi Dave.

Yes specific dates. Not generally available. On checking just now, 4/23-4/26 are coming up as available on the nonstop flights. Currently pricing at $497 RT.

      Aloha.

  19. Good Denver deals (finally) but man AA flights are the WORST I’ve seen. 18 hours?? I might be able to drive to Hawaii faster 😂😉

What really bugged me is I thought $700 was a good deal and than delta had flights for $330 RT. These prices are unheard of.

  20. I just saw Denver was added to Alaska Airlines sale. Do you think there is any chance that Minneapolis to Maui would be included in their sale? Thank you so much for your thoughts.

    1. Hi Valerie.

They do have a few $448 RT fares in that market. Not the shortest layover but not horrible – 15 hours. For late April to early May travel. Good prices. MSP doesn’t see many deals better than that unfortunately.

      Aloha.

  21. We would like to travel for a family vacation from San Jose to Maui in July. The lowest flight
I have seen is on Alaska & Hawaiian is $597. Do you think I should keep waiting or book now?

Thank you so much. I love your website. So helpful!

    1. Hi Suzanne.

That’s a very good price for July. Don’t know if it might improve, but a good answer is to say it is unlikely given what we see at this time. Suggest booking now if your vacation plans are set.

      Aloha.

  22. Aloha!
When would you advise for end of July flights. I have a wedding coming up and quite a few guests flying from the New York area and one couple from the San Francisco area.
I have been monitoring for a few months and prices have seemed to have plateud.
I understand this is peak season but any advice would be much appreciated!

    1. Hi Missy.

Prices highly unlikely to come down any for summer travel. You didn’t give route and dates to that’s about all we can say. Suggest buying now.

      Aloha.

  23. Best time to book a NON STOP flight from Portland, OR , PDX to Maui OGG for dates LV 8-4-18 RTN 8-11-18 for a family of 9.

In ckg recently with travel agent seems rates on rise And not a lot of seat choices???

    HELP

  24. As a big fan of Alaska Airlines I’m really disappointed
They do not offer more then 2 flights per day non stop to Kona. Other flights on those days take approx 10-20 hrs with stopovers.
They have not lowered their prices from Seattle/Kona. I used mileage for my flight in Mar ‘18 but now the prices are high all the way thru end of Aug. and I need to go again in July.

  25. Please help. The fares for HA airlines from Portland, OR keep going up; any advice on if they will come down or keep going up, please????

  26. Hello again;
My daughter and I are going from Portland, OR to Kauai in September. On your advice I did not purchase tickets near the end of 2017 as you thought the price would come down in 2018. I want to fly HA airlines but not on their new A321 as we would have to sit with a stranger for that long trip. I check the prices daily and, as of today, they are now $84 dollars per person more than before. Now I do not know what to do as I am afraid they will go up even more???? What can you advise, please??

    1. Hi Diane.

It is with some exceptions, too early for fall 2018 sales. Should be more coming up.

Obviously we can’t guarantee that will help you, and no one knows with complete certainty how competitive pricing will end up.

      Aloha.

  27. Trip planning for September, flying from Buffalo NY to Honolulu. Do you thing there may be better deals on airfare coming??

  28. Hey there I watch this site faithfully. Do u think hnl will drop in price this month? Looking for a quick getaway last week of oct from various airport. Can leave out of any destination west coast. Thanks for your insight

  29. I love that you send these updates but its so frustrating that the fares they offer are never out of Sacramento. The capital of the State and we can’t get deals we have to travel to Oakland, San Francisco or Los Angeles.

    1. I agree with your statement. SMF is always on the short end. I am hopeful the addition of SWA to the mix will help but I’m not holding my breath.

  30. We just looked at extending our stay in Hawaii and the one way fare back to Seattle would have increased to $700 plus the change fee on our proposed new date of travel; these deals are good ones if you can meet their travel dates otherwise be prepared for sticker shock (and no, we aren’t going to extend our stay at those travel/change flight prices)

  31. About to purchase a one-way from HNL to MCO (Orlando) during the week of May 15th. Prefer Tuesday – Wednesday flights. Last week, pricing was in the $280-290 range. Prices shot up on Thursday or Friday of last week to $390+. As of today, the prices have come back down to $288. Do I buy now or wait?

  32. Been looking for good deals on flights from the east coast, GPS airport SC or surrounding airports, to Hawaii for months (to go to see my son who is stationed there in the US Navy, but currently deployed) I wanted to surprise him with a visit upon his return but cannot afford any of the prices for RT flights that are listed. You always deals list but NONE that are from the east coast to Hawaii. When will you be including the rest of the United States in the deals you offer?

    1. Hi Mary.

You will need to use flexible date search on Alaska’s website within the possible date ranges we indicated. If you’d like to provide your departure and arrival cities and approx. dates we’ll try to help.

      Aloha.
