  1. Aloha,
I recieved an email about flight deals starting at $168. I haven;t found anything even close to that price when I click on the links. It says the deals expire 12/21. I’d really like to get cost effective air fare. Am i doing something wrong?
    Mahalo,

    1. Hi Charity.

Prices are as listed when post is published. You need to read how to find the deals, the use of the monthly calendar, the months that are listed for the price quoted, etc.

Is there something specific you are looking for?

      Aloha.

      1. Thank you for the quick response. I was looking to fly from San Francisco to Kona, 08/30 – 09/04. It was roughly $430 on their site 🙁 I suppose: San Francisco $181 to $209, was too good to be true
        C’est la vie

        1. It should be noted that I also tried changing to different dates, all before October. It made no difference.

  2. Hi,

We booked one way tickets from LAX to LIH for June 7th using Alaska miles when the route went on sale last month. We need to book one way return flight some time around the 16th-18th of June but prices are holding steady for those dates which is understandable being summer and near father’s day. I’m thinking that we may as well wait it out and see if we can catch a sale with one of the airlines or a brief fare war as they are unlikely to go higher than they are now. Any advice on timing or what a fair price would be for LIH to LAX or SAN non-stop?

  3. your info are always very helpful, are there any recommendations for
first class trips from lax to hawaii?

    1. Hi Wolfgang.

Not really any recommendations. Those don’t go on sale. It is often cheapest as a mileage award on an airline, if that is available to you.

      Aloha.

  4. Aloha! We are planning to visit my sister and her dear family on the Big Island July 18-Aug 2.

I have been watching the flights from Washington DC to Kona for three weeks now and price has been $385 for a Tues-Thurs flight. I was waiting for my husband to agree to a vacation before I booked the flight.

All of a sudden when I checked today it seems the price on American Airlines went up. Did I miss my chance or should I wait for United to come on board Dec 20th? Or is it the normal Friday price fluctuation and price should be back to normal by the middle of the week??

    Please and thank you!

    1. Hi Michelle.

Prices on that route vary between $1,000 and $1,200. Midweek is the cheapest. Those are peak summer travel date. We have no reason to think that will get cheaper and that price is as normal.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Rebecca.

It is unfortunately somewhat rare. We wouldn’t be surprised to see new flights from SLC added in the future however.

      Aloha.

  5. Beat of Hawaii seems to be a great source for Hawaii travel tips. Next year, my wife and I are going to Kauai (April 6th-13th) and Kona (April 13th-27th). We would leave and return from Sacramento or Reno. Is there anyway of keeping track of the cost of the multi-city itinerary we have in mind (SMF/RNO TO LIH TO KOA TO SMF/RNO)?

    MAHALO, BOB N

  6. Sad, sad, sad …. no flights from seattle to kona!???

we live in spokane, our best best for flights are seattle or portland … nada!

why? and, can we expect one SOON???

    thanks … darlene

      1. thank you .. i regret flying united — their customer service atrocious n rude ..

we love hawai’ian airlines .. for our last four trips, we fly out of seattle — why no more??

        thanks .. darlene

        1. Hi Darlene.

It’s all about competition. The other players are asserting themselves in that market which has been Hawaiian’s territory.

          Aloha.
