We are in that stressful middle period currently… tests taken… shipped back to Vault… received an email for 3 of our 5 tests that they have received them, still waiting for the other 2 (please don’t be lost)… and hoping we receive negative results by our flight departure on Friday. Not enjoying this stress. Hoping it will all be worth it upon arrival in 2 days to Kona. Our flight goes thru LAX so maybe our backup plan will have to be getting an urgent test there. I think I read that exists. But not panicking yet. Believing Vault will come thru. I enjoy reading about others success and good times on the islands. Learned today that we will also have to get tests when returning back to PA or quarantine for 14 days. Kind of odd since the average new daily cases in Hawaii is 1% of PA. The new world we live in I guess.
Funny how people long for the “old days” when Hawaii was uncrowded and now that we have it people find much to complain about. Our current state is not everyones cup of tea, but for others it’s paradise reborn.
Looking at how we handled this and our very low rate of infection compared to so many mainland states has changed my negative perspective of our handling this.
Perfect? Not a chance, nobody has been. But if we handled it differently we would have been toast. We don’t have the capacity to deal with the numbers many mainland states are seeing. Being an island state has it’s advantages.
The vaccine is close, hopefully the people that know nothing about it other then what they read on the internet won’t be able to undermine the amazing work the scientists
who obviously have put heart and soul into coming up with it (and probably more scrutiny then any of us could imagine) and with a light shining at the end of this tunnel my fear is the damage the anti mask crew did to our national response will be worse if people start letting their guard down.
Anyway, time to focus on the fact that the future looks brighter then it has for quite awhile.
