It’s Great that HDOT can do all this for TSA. But how about the Customs area? One of the elevators has been out for over 5 years now. And there is a line when there’s a alot of wheelchair passengers. It would be nice to see it fixed since the state acquired $10 million for transportation infrastructure.
There are TSA pre-check lines and lines with no TSA pre-check. Big difference between short lines and long lines. Sometimes if I print my ticket out at the airport it’ll show ‘TSA pre-check’ on it and I can zip through the short line. Sometimes it doesn’t and I have to go through the long line. That’s the hullabaloo. Not good going through the long line if you’re in a rush.
Thank you for the updated HNL airport checkpoints hopefully I will remember which is which. It Would be nice to see a little bigger signs rather than walk up to see which Check point is which and then reroute self to correct lane.
My experience, which is based on flying in and out of Honolulu and Maui airports on a weekly basis, is that with a TSA Pre boarding pass, I’ve never had to wait more than two minutes at any TSA checkpoint. Not sure what all of the hullabaloo is about.
A great idea for airports would be curbside signs indicating drop-off points near TSA checkpoints, and which have precheck. Travelers with no checked bags who have their boarding passes need that info for drop-off, not by airline.
Perhaps I’m just thick headed, but I’m not sure how you are supposed to figure out which one of these check points you are supposed to use. Does it depend on your gate? your departure destination? This airport can be such a zoo. Hopefully this will be fully explained and will help alleviate the crowds–If the check points are actually manned.

Thanks. When you’re both age 91 and visiting family members in Honolulu, we need all the help
we can receive.

I love the Beat of Hawaii. Great at keeping travelers informed. Always pleasant and respectful.
