  1. I am booked for April 2021 and have been since early June.
We will all return and enjoy the Islands and the people. Business owners ligature will survive these difficult times will be glad once we return.

  2. You can support Hawaii businesses online, I’ve ordered sunrise papayas from Kumu farms in Maui (they also have pineapples if you miss them)
Kona Coffee Purveyors for best Kona coffee. Look up Lion coffee to order (sure, it’s not the bargain you get at Long’s but what the heck?) Ten Tomorrow for women’s clothes made in Hawaii. ABC stores have a website, you get the message.
Just saying.. instead of complaining you can’t visit, look up fav places you shopped at and see if you can purchase something you like and support Hawaii businesses this way and hopefully when you can visit again they are still in business.

  3. Florida keys are really nice like hawaii and so much cheaper and easier to get to. You can drive there or take a ferry or fly. And unlike hawaii you can walk everywhere in 2 miles on key west.

Plus its been open for tourists since june 1 while hawaii cant decide on when to reopen, not even oct 1, or a full 5 months later than Florida keys!

Hawaii clearly has issues that run deeper than covid or a very select few tourists that cant follow the rules. And yet Hawaiians Still seem to expect perfection, total respect and to turn on and off the tourist flow At will like its a faucet.

Beat of hawaii articles and subsequent comments really illustrate how 3rd world hawaii is and how it continues to sink into despair. Really usa would be better off without it and the only reason its a stste is because of the military for the mostpart. It has no other economic driver besides tourism and the stupid crazy people won’t do anything to demand keeping tourism fully functional during covid etc.

    1. You do realize they’ve run out of hospital beds on Oahu right? You really want to be trapped 5 hours to the nearest hospital? Grow up.

    2. Hawai’i: 44 deaths per million population.
Florida: 521 deaths per million population. That’s 12x the death rate.
It’s really odd that there are so many comments on this site which insult Hawai’i and promote Florida. If you like FL, go there. There’s really no need to denigrate HI. Seems very insecure to have to cut down one destination in order to justify the other one.
As for “better”? HI has better weather (drier), far fewer hurricanes, better scenery, better surf. Oh, and FL has double the murder rate.
      Thanks but no thanks.

  4. I already have my villa and flight for June 2021 booked, my Hawaiian clothes I bought for myself, my husband and 2 daughters are awaiting our dream vacation. BOH is my life line to what’s happening there and I thank you!!! Just counting down the months till I can take my family to paradise.

  5. Haha! This made me laugh! I do so much of this and have stations ❤️‘d on Spotify and Pandora. I miss Hawaii so much. My whole family does. Our daughter loves it so much it’s the only place she was completely thrilled about when her UofH acceptance letter came in. We’ll be baaaack!

  6. Mahalo for this post! Well needed reminders that we will visit Hawaii again, maybe even, hopefully in 2021! Aloha!!

  7. I’m already booked! Normally I alternate each yr between the Caribbean and Hawaii but since I had to cancel Hawaii this year and was already booked for the Caribbean next year I said, why not? So two nice vacays next year. I’m holding off on using my vouchers from this year until it gets closer since they are a one time change only, but I’m already on count down. Thank you so much for all your updates.

  8. One more for your list:
Ordering products unavailable on the mainland. I regularly order Hawaiian products such as plumeria scented hand lotion, maui sweet onion salad dressing and smoked tako (octopus) to name just a few beloved Hawaiian-only made goods! Can’t live happily without them….mahalo to Hawaii and to Beat of Hawaii for making us feel closer to our other home.

    1. Our Family of four is so excited to be headed back to Kona, HI this coming May 2020 two years removed from our first visit ever. Our 14 & 10 yr old kids were elated to hear that we were going back! Question to you and the avid followers of “Beat of Hawaii”, we have heard so much about the MaunaKea Observatory, what recommendations do you have for our family and the value one gets for the cost? Thank for everything you do Beat of Hawaii because it was your continued posts that kept the joy of Hawaii at the forefront.

    2. A big YES to this suggeston Martha. We order Kauai Coffee directly from the plantation whenever we are getting low, and do the same with our favorite cookies – Macadamia Shortbread from Kauai Coookie Company. I’m sure they can use the business.

  9. Mahalo for this list. I did not answer yes to all 30 but it reminded me of the things I love. Hope to be back to Kauai one day, sigh. Thanks for the e-mails.
