  1. I was taught by my Hawaiian friends that Mauka means to the Mountain side or inward and Makai meant to the Ocean Side. So Mauka in Hilo would mean eastward and in Kona would mean westward. Interesting to see it related to winds as anyone who has ever encountered severe fog knows, winds change direction at times.

    1. Not got on left and right. Makai means eastward in Hilo and Westward in Kona. Always get confused with winds on direction from and to also. Would love to know how the wind direction works with Directions. Genuinely interested

  2. FOR HAWAIIAN MUSIC: we found Hawaiian Rainbow (internet radio station) which i play on my Alexa at home (just say play Hawaiian Rainbow on tune in). it is the best Hawaiian station i have found and occasionally during the day they will just play waves crashing. Best Kept Secret!!!

  3. Mahalo for the great list!
When we recently moved from MD to FL with the agreement we would summer in Washington State, I found a Hawaiian restaurant the next town down and have been telling all the locals about it. they use spam cans to collect your credit card or money! Live and canned music, including Bruddah Iz any time I ask for him.

  4. Hi, it would be nice to see some canadian flight options some times as well…
    Love your new emails!!
    Merci!!!!

  5. aloha BOH!! What a great list you have compiled. Yes, I have 3/4 of those suggestions already in my mode. I started in 1977 and have been adding a Hawaiian culture in my life since then. The sense of calm and spiritual blessedness that envelopes me when I am there has never left my heart and soul. It is a truly satisfying life-style for me. Mahalo for your updates.
