We frequently fly to OGG and then catch a connecting flight to HNL. Even with the extra ticket, it’s still less expensive than flying directly to HNL. My gut says that airlines made the schedules ahead of time and the loads to OGG are lower than expected due to high accommodations cost. $700 a night at the OGG Courtyard Marriott! So they had to lower the fares to fill seats. The HNL flights seem to be fuller when you look out into the future.
Troy, I’ll rent you out my designated parking spot outside my condo in Wailuku, Maui (I ride a bike to work) for a fair market price. You’ll need your own car to sleep in, but there’s a garden hose nearby if you get thirsty and a Starbucks less than a mile away for when you need to “use the facilities.” How’s $229.97 a night sound? Lemme know, buddy…prices go up once spring break comes aroun.

Which places on Maui “buck the trend”? The guys renting out live-in vans on Airbnb?
