  1. Our family of 5 adults and 2 kids planning to go to Oahu on 6/18-6/25 from Oak or SFO, which ever is cheaper, Should I buy now or will prices drop a bit.

    1. Hi Donna.

Probably won’t drop for your dates – $753 and might or might not go up. But if you go and return one day earlier from OAK, $608 on Hawaiian. If that works buy it now. Great price.

      Aloha.

  2. Hello-

I put a comment on here yesterday but I think it got deleted. Would you recommend waiting to buy tickets to Maui from Denver? We are wanting to go the last two weeks of September. Thanks!

    1. Hi Faith,

We did reply yesterday but here it is again:

Yes September for every reason including $. It’s just a way nicer time to be in Hawaii if you have that flexibility. Denver doesn’t see many deals. We are seeing over $700 to any island as of this evening. You might wait until summer and keep watching as availability isn’t an issue.

      Aloha.

  3. Hi. I am looking for the best way to get back to states after arriving in Hawaii. Or the best time to book back. I am a non rev and found easy flights to get in but coming back I have heard is hard to do. Any suggestions? The flights back are adding a day of travel. Just want to make sure if I book for family and I, that we book a time that it is slow so we don’t have problems getting home. Thanks so much.

    1. Hi Melanie,

Not sure what you are asking. Let us know time frame and exact routes so we can look.

      Aloha.

  4. We are planning a trip to Oahu mid-May, from Bellingham. Currently Alaska shows $376 RT for mid-week departures. Do you expect this might still go down a bit? They had some sales of $298 RT for Feb and March. Not sure whether to buy now or still wait a bit… Thanks!

    1. Hi Ivan,

Not sure. Bellingham is becoming less competitive so it may not improve. Probably no harm in waiting though as availability then won’t be an issue.

      Aloha.

      1. go to another computer (friend, public place)…Once you start searching on your own computer or device, the airline website locks in your computer or device. The prices go up as you search. Be prepared to take the deals when you see them. In other words, search deals first at the public library, not on your own computer or device, then go home and grab the deal when you have found one that suits you!

  5. Hi, You may have responded to my prior email but I missed it. We are looking to fly (3 persons) from LAX to the Big Island mid August for 10 days to return on or about Aug. 27. When should we buy tickets and what prices can we expect to pay? Should we fly into Kona? Thanks much!!!

    1. Hi Lori,

Yes we did reply to your previous comment:

Best hope would be in the $400’s. Don’t know if or when that will materialize but for sure it is too early now. Maybe late spring or after. Stay tuned.

      Aloha.

  6. Hi there. Our dates are 6/14-6/21. We are a group of 5. Departing from San Diego or LAX to Honolulu. Whichever is cheaper. Pricing about $651 RT nonstop from San Diego on Hawaiian Airlines. All the other lines are pretty similar in price. Trying to avoid Allegiant Air. Do you think that’s the cheapest we will get or will prices drop?

    1. Hi Valerie,

We concur about avoiding Allegiant. Quite expensive dates especially from LAX. Stick with SAN. Crap shoot on if it will improve but our gut call is no. Hope that helps.

      Aloha.

  7. I’ve been looking at fares from Chicago to HNL in early June. I’ve found first class at around $1700. Should I book now, or should I wait for the chance there will be a fare sale for my dates? Thanks.

    1. Hi Laura,

There are almost never any first class fare sales – just seasonal fluctuations. It is generally about $1500+. There are some dates that are a bit less, and so is the one-stop. June 1-8 is $1480 on United. But the nonstop is up to $600 higher. On June 8-16 and some other dates the nonstop is $1571 which is excellent.

      Aloha.

  8. Is there a particular time that is best to buy interisland flights (on Hawaiian Airlines) for late May island hopping between Oahu and Maui?

    1. Hi Dee,

Tricky. There could well be sales since Island Air is trying to resurrect itself. On the other hand, availability is often an issue on inter-island flights. You’ll have to use your own judgment on this one.

      Aloha.

    1. Hi Donna,

Saturdays. Those will be more expensive. Mid-$700’s. If you fly on Friday’s it is about $600. It might improve but again, Saturdays will be the more expensive days making it difficult to predict.

      Aloha.

  10. we had to cancel a trip last year and have a credit on american that we must use by april and looking for the best air from phl to kauai for our 50 anniversary when should we book ????????

    1. Hi Vince,

About $1,000 most days with a reasonable stopover. If you want a long stopover in Seattle, you can fly for less. $704. Not sure if these will improve.

      Aloha.
