Planning our Honeymoon in Hawaii the second and third weeks of November and would love to be able to see both National Parks (The Big Island and Maui) and then spend some time on Kauai. We’ll be flying out of Detroit.
Do you have any advice on when to look for flights or the most efficient way to get from island to island once we get there?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Jason,
Since Detroit requires connecting flights anyway, you might consider flying into one island and out of the other That way you’ll only require one time consuming and relatively expensive inter-island flight. That is the only way to get between islands and that will be on Hawaiian Airlines (although Mokulele Airlines does have Cessna flights if you’d prefer a more up close and personal type of flight).
The summer should reveal somewhat lower prices for fall travel. Currently $800 (2 stops) to $1,000 (1 stop and shorter time). You could save a couple of hundred or more by waiting.
Aloha.

I am planning a trip to Hawaii in October. I already have a cruise booked from the 10/1 – 10/8, leaving from Waikiki. I have tons of Southwest points and wanted to use them to get to the best West Coast location for the cheapest RT to Hawaii. I see that Oakland may be the best location for this, and we wanted to spend some days in San Francisco anyway. What are your suggestions?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Tim,
That sounds like a very good plan. Fares from Oakland to Honolulu are already down to $438 on Hawaiian for mid-week in October. If you want to lock that in now that is very reasonable, though it will probably drop by up to $100 if you’d rather wait until perhaps summer.
Aloha.

Hi!
When should I start waiting some good deals from NY to Kauai?
I’m planning a trip to there in July’16.

Beat of Hawaii
Hi Kitty,
Prices in July start at about $1,000. That is to be expected for summer travel and no price reductions are likely.

Planning a first trip to Hawaii!! Looking for advice on best time to buy airfare from EWR/NYC to HI for travel period of 11/24/16-12/9/16… So far there will be 4 ppl & we plan on hitting 3 islands (Big island, Oahu & Maui) & which one we hit 1st, 2nd or 3rd is flexible.
Advice on the usual or anticipated cheapest flight to one of these destinations & our return to EWR/NYC as well as best time to buy inter-island flights would be greatly appreciated!
Also any tips, hints or other notes for our trip would great! Thank you in advance!!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi ML,
Airfare is running about $800 on the Hawaiian nonstop to HNL, plus inter-island flights. Might or might come down a little given that you’re flying on Thanksgiving day itself with your return being in low season. Gut feeling is to wait to book until sometime this summer when we start to post fall deals.
Aloha.

Hi 🙂
It’s really nice of you to take the time to answer everyone’s questions, so here comes another, slightly different one:
I might have to go to Hawaii on personal business but I’m not a US citizen. I would have to fly from Norway or somewhere in Asia (I’m not sure how I’ll do this) – what months are cheapest for international flights to Big Island, and what continents are the best to fly from? I don’t know if there are any big hubs with good deals for Hawaii from Europe and Asia (like Hong Kong and Singapore often has good deals for specific places etc.)
Hope you have some advice 🙂 Thank you so much!!

We are planning to fly from Oakland, CA to Maui, HI on 10/12/16 to 10/18/16. The price for round trip is currently $438 pp. Is this a good fare?
Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Juliet,
Yes that is a very good fare – if you want to lock it in. On the other hand if you prefer to wait, that is among the most competitive markets and we’ve had prices up to $100 less. It’s a case of the bird in hand vs. the one in the bush.

Hi! We are planning a trip from Las Vegas to Kauai 4/3-4/11. Last week I saw prices were around $545 and I didn’t jump on it. They rose to the $700s, and now are at $670. Would you suggest buying now or waiting to see if there is another deal?
Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Ariel,
Gut reaction is that they may well drop some if you care to wait. You’re at the tail end of spring break.

Hello We are planning a trip from Houston to Maui March 12 to 18th ,s it too late to get a good deal. what is an average fare. Whats the best airline too. It seems I’ll have to take different planes.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Kwame,
$1234 to $1264 on American or United. If you could do 14th to 20th or 22nd, it would be $750 – $832 on United. These prices are all with good connections. Spring break dates with expected prices.
Aloha.
David
We have accommodations in Kauai May 5-12, 2016 and found airfares with Hawaiian Air traveling from Phoenix for $551. Is that a good fare or could we expect lower prices out of Phoenix?
What’s your advice?
Thanks
Beat of Hawaii
Hi David,
Because Phoenix isn’t seeing good deals, it seems likely that the price will improve either not at all or by very little if you wait. Suggest buying.
Aloha.

Me, my wife, brother in law, and his wife are flying to Honolulu June 15-22 from St. Louis, MO. When would be the best time to purchase our tickets? Is there a airline you would recommend over American Airlines?
Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Doug,
Would suggest buying now. What about $923 on Alaska Airlines with one 42 minute stop in Portland?
Aloha.
Doug
Thank you. We are in search for a early flight 5-6am and hope to get out there by 2-3. I have seen several United flights and American Airlines for around $1050 but I was not sure if that is a good enough deal or not.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Doug,
That is the price that’s to be expected for your peak of summer travel dates unfortunately.
Aloha.

My fiance and I are flying to Oahu at the end of October for our honeymoon. We are using points to get a flight from Chicago out west on a discount carrier then flying out to Honolulu from there.
2 Questions…
1.) Judging from the text, Oakland and San Diego seem to be the best options for a west coast departure. Is this still accurate?
2.) Looks like we should be looking to book in the summer. We found some that arent terrible now, is it too early?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Bill,
We just updated the cities to include Los Angeles now that there is an additional airline. Oakland and San Jose are great. San Diego follows these.
Fares are mostly in the high $400’s and we’ve seen them for up to $150 less in the off season very recently. So the decision to buy or wait depends on your threshold for the pain of not knowing. Spring to summer will reveal more if you care to wait.

will plan to travel to Honolulu and Big ISland in October 9-16.What is the cheapest way to do,HNL first then inter island to Big Island or vice versa. There will be 5 of us from Phoenix, and WHEN will be the cheapest time to purchase tickets?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Petite.
You might be able to do two one ways plus one inter-island and thus not have to back track to Honolulu. That would work best logistically and probably not have significant financial repercussions. Wait until spring to summer, as indicated for somewhat better pricing, while keeping in mind that Phoenix doesn’t get great deals.
Aloha.

Hello,
I am planning to travel to Princeville , Kauai..July29,2016 to August 5, 2016..I was wondering is Kauai a nice island and How is Hanalei Bay resort?
When is the best time to purchase airline tickets and average price? OR Are they any good deals on flights?
I am flying from Detroit, Michigan (DTW) .
THANKS
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Rita,
All the Hawaiian Islands are wonderful in their own way. We suggest the highly acclaimed guidebooks on each island: Hawaii Revealed.
Hanalei Bay Resort has a wide range of accommodations – from great to not to good. You need to investigate the unit you are considering.
Fares are about $1,200 since it is peak summer season. Low season on that route can be $700 by comparison. You can try waiting but not sure it will improve (likelihood of improvement 30%).
Aloha.
Cathy
Hello,
We are planning a trip from IAD to HNL August 16-22 (currently $900 per person RT). What would be a decent price for airfare?
Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Cathy,
With one or two stops perhaps as low as $700’s. The nonstop tends to run a couple of hundred higher. Not sure if it will come down. You can try waiting but the downside is there’s limited nonstop inventory. If that isn’t an issue then wait. Otherwise you may need to pay.
Aloha.

January 2017. Tips on best airfare from ogg to smf on 1/7. One way.
THANKS!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Susan,
Too early to book until next week. Looks like there might be some $250 or so airfares coming. Or you can wait until fall and see what happens. Should not be a problem waiting.
Aloha.
Carrie
I live in Portland Maine, East Coast, trying to search for deals to Kona or Kauai for end of February 2016. A friend told me about your website. Enthusiastic to have a good resource now. Any advice? Many Thanks.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Carrie,
No great deals unfortunately. About $900 to either island. These are mostly two week advance purchase fares. Otherwise price is higher. We checked Boston, and there’s nothing worth it from there either. It might improve but isn’t likely.
Aloha.
Jennifer
We are looking at a family vacation (2 adults and 2 teens) this summer, probably 3rd week of August. Very flexible on which island/airport. What would be your recommendation given that we like outdoor adventure (hikes, etc.), beach/snorkel/swim time and some shopping? That said, we’re on a budget so if the big island is typically less expense to fly into .. or Maui or ..? we are very open to any location.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Jennifer,
Maui has probably the best mix of things compared with other islands and if often the cheapest to fly to/from. For island trip planning we use and suggest the online and print guidebook series, Hawaii Revealed.
Aloha.

We will are planning a trip to Kauai from Orlando, FL in mid to late October. We are trying to figure out if we should fly to LAX or to SFO to get to our final destination (Kauai). Any input on which city would be cheaper to flight to Hawaii out of? We currently have reservations to fly from Orlando (MCO) to Los Angeles (LAX) via Virgin Airlines and paid $260per person/roundtrip but seems to me that flights from LAX to OGG are more expensive than from SFO to OGG. Could you give me any advice on this matter? Is it way to early to even be purchasing any tickets at this point? Thanks in advance!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Rich,
There will be more sales from Los Angeles but they will not be to Kauai. Only Honolulu at Maui for this year. Next year things may start to change for Kauai with more flights and more competition. Having two separate tickets is problematic if not with the same airline as you might have to retrieve luggage and go back through security. Plus you risk the first flight being delayed unless there is a true stopover.
Right now fares for October start in the $830 range. If you choose to wait, the possible savings is about $200 if it materializes.
Aloha.

We are planning 10 days on Oahu, leaving anytime after June 6th. We have 8 people flying out of Chicago and one flying out of Phoenix. Is it best to wait until May to purchase our tickets? Thank you
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Greg,
We don’t see much possibility of your dates coming down in price. Starting at about $950 on the nonstop, which isn’t bad for that time of year. You can try calling the group sales desk at United or American just to see if they’d do anything for you. Usually they want 10 people flying together.
Aloha.

We have accommodation reservations in Maui August 13-25 and have been searching air fares. Is there likely to be a better time to purchase airline tickets (LAX-OGG) than right now? I read it’s best to purchase early and then read fares for late summer may drop in early June. Your advice please. Thank you.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Gary,
Would be best to wait given the new airline on that route. You may have to wait until early summer – so as look as you’re okay with that, it should work out favorably.
Aloha.

I am a bridesmaid in a wedding in Oahu August 28th. My boyfriend and I are looking visit around August 24th-August 31st (give or take a few days depending on flight prices). Prices for flights LAX-HNL right now are around $650. I read on your site that around early summer the flights may drop. Around what price is decent for traveling late august? and When should I be on the lookout for a lower price?
Also depending on the price, I don’t mind driving to San Diego to fly to HNL. What is typically the price difference between flying out of LAX versus San Diego?
Sorry for all the questions, I appreciate any input. Thank you!
Aloha
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Shannon.
First, do wait on this. Second, we don’t know what will happen as the Los Angeles to Hawaii flight pricing is in flux due to the new airline. It is possible that the LA deals will be as good or better than the San Diego deals. Shoot for $400. Hope that helps.
Aloha.

Hi, Planning to visit Oahu May22-28 2016 and round trip flights from Oakland,CA to Oahu are roughly about $ 500…..Should I book now or wait for any February specials? Please advise.Thank you.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Angela,
Suggest waiting until there are better deals for those dates.
Aloha.

I ❤️ Hawaii!!!
Our youngest daughter selected to go to college at HPU in Honolulu. So I look for every opportunity for a cheap fair to visit.
Looking for travel in May while she’s out till Summer semester: May 9-22 (I can only spend 7 days total).
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Heidi.
Travelling from Salt Lake City (according to your IP address). If you wait a bit prices may drop by about $100. Currently about $550.
Aloha.

I’d like to take my husband on a surprise 40th birthday vacation to Hawaii. His birthday is in May but the travel is flexible. When is the least expensive to travel there and what’s the best island to visit?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Charisse,
The post contains our best information on timing for visits. Which island is entirely subjective so we recommend the acclaimed guidebook series online or in print, Hawaii Revealed.

Weare looking to fly from Phoenix to Honolulu in mid-September. Whaat is the best time to make airline reservations to get a good fare?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Grill,
Recommendations on timing are already in the post. You can hope for a drop to around $450, which is over $100 less than currently available.
Aloha.

When is the best deal to buy airline tickets from Portland, Oregon(PDX) to Honolulu, Hawaii(HNL)? And which condos best stay for a week? Which part of Honolulu is not ghetto? I’m looking forward in May2016. Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Pang,
There are fares of about $400RT on either Hawaiian or Alaska. That’s a good price and probably won’t improve. For places to stay, we suggest the highly regarded online and print guidebook series, Hawaii Revealed.
Aloha.
Koriane
Hi!
My husband and I are planning on going to Kona at the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) for a wedding. We are flying from Houston. What is your recommendation on when to purchase tickets?
Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Koriane,
Starts in low $600’s with two stops but for good connection it costs about $200+ more. Yuck. Nor sure this will improve however. You can try waiting, especially if your dates are mid-week and somewhat flexible.
Aloha.
Nate
I am looking to travel from either New Orleans or Atlanta to Honolulu May 4th-May 10th. About 2 weeks ago roundtrip flights were as low as $527 out of New Orleans. However, overnight prices jumped a few hundred dollars. They went back down some todag, but not as low as they were 2 weeks ago. Just wanted to get your thoughts. Thanks!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Nate,
Might come down some if you wait a few weeks. ATL is usually more competitive and has the nonstop which is generally quite pricey – averages $250 more than one-stop.
Aloha.
Doug
Aloha, arriving the 1st of June from St Louis, airfare has been steady for some time. do you think it will drop as we get closer to departure or should we purchase tickets now? thank you
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Doug,
There is some potential for up to $100 drop if you wait. Can’t say when that will happen.
Aloha.

My girl and i wish to visit Hawaii for the 75th anniversary of Pearl Harbor. How do you perdict prices of flight and stay will be for that week? Any suggestions when to book and where to stay and go. Mahalo!!

Hi Brian,
Yes there should be deals for early December. On accommodations and activities we suggest the highly acclaimed series Hawaii Revealed.

Hi there, we are travelling from New Zealand to San Francisco, Vegas, then on to L.A arriving 26th September. We have decided to add on Hawaii on our way home which would be 10th October – 15th October. This is our first time to America including Hawaii – there is myself, hubby 21 year old and our 16 year old. Who would you recommend to fly with? Also any recommendations for accommodation or anything else would be greatly appreciated 🙂
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Sonya,
On accommodations and things to do, we suggest the highly acclaimed print and online series Hawaii Revealed.
Sounds like you’re looking for a one way LAX-HNL ticket for mid-October. It would be best to wait several months for best pricing. Otherwise nearly $400 one way at this point. From LA currently would suggest Hawaiian Airlines. We’ll see if Virgin America comes online by then.
Aloha.
Brett
Hello,
I am planning a trip from the SF bay area to Honolulu for a week around the middle of June this year (from the14th-21st). There will be 6 or 7 of us going and over the last week or so, the lowest fare I have seen is Oakland-Honolulu at around $600/person RT from Hawaiian Airlines. Is is worth it to wait for prices to drop (and if so what price should I wait for?) or should we buy the tickets now since summer is a popular time to travel.
Thanks!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Brett,
$600 for those dates is a bargain. It is normally $700 or more. Not sure you can expect better, although the bay area is somewhat unpredictable this year. Suggest buying now.
Aloha.
Brook
Hi, we fly to Osaka, Japan (KIX) each year from the SF Bay Area. We were told that if we from from Oakland (OAK) to HNL then onto KIX we could save over a direct flight which we found to be true. However, friends of ours say that they wait until Feb or March to buy the flights since Hawaiian airlines tends to have a February sale which we have not found a lot on. Do you recommend that we buy our multi-city flights (to extend our layover to three days) now or wait a month/monitor?
BTW, we plan on leaving June 13th to HNL then onto KIX on June 17 and then back to the Bay Area on July 21st.
Thank you for this site.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Brook,
$598 on Hawaiian OAK-HNL for your exact dates. Great price. Wouldn’t wait.
Aloha.
Brook
I thought you recommended waiting a little on fares from the Bay Area due to increased competition; or was this for Spring flights?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Brook.
If it is $100 or more off normal, in summer, that’s a great opportunity. We said it is fast changing and not predictable.
Aloha.
Teri
Hi, we want to go to Maui late June from Phoenix. Airfare is currently $830 per person RT.
Should we wait to purchase tickets or is that the best price we will see.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Teri.
It doesn’t appear likely that prices will come down on that route.
Aloha.

We are planning to fly from BNE to HNL in August. Should we buy the tickets now or wait?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Anna.
Some days are prices about $650. Not sure that will improve any further if you wait.

Hello. So a friend and I are looking to travel to Oahu from March 12-19 from New York. We were wondering when the best time to buy the tickets may be and at about what price they may be at? If I recall, I believe you may have mentioned that Feb might be the best time to look for deals for March.
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Trevor.
From $775 with a stop or from about $1000 nonstop due to spring break. Doubt that will go down.
Aloha.
Crystal
The two of us want to vk on the beautiful island of Hawaii can you tell me when it would be cheapest to fly when you to book our trip we are in cleveland ohio but we can also fly out of akron ohio which ever has best prices
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Crystal,
Honolulu and Maui usually though not always have the best airfares. There are some $750 fares in late February and early April. Otherwise it mostly is $900’s+. There will be probably be more fares in the $700’s for later in the spring (after spring break) and again in the fall.
Aloha.

I live in Denver, we truly don’t get much for deals for Hawaii do we?! I will be traveling with 2 kids, I am curious to know, is it less expensive to fly to the big island or to Maui?? We will be looking to travel end of July/beginning of Aug. I can sometimes get cheap flights to Las Vegas, would you recommend flying out of Vegas for cheaper rates? So sorry, one last question, which of the 2, big island or Maui, would be a great place for kids?
Thank you so much for your help!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Alyssa,
It is the same price to Maui or Kona. From about $900. Either is great for kids with lots to do. Your correct, Denver suffers at this point in relation to Hawaii. With new planes coming to most carriers, that could change in the future (but not this year).
Aloha.
Alyssa
Thank you!
Rachel
We have 11 nights from October 4 – October 15. We are planning on staying only 7 nights and want to depart October 4 and return October 11. Flights are currently around $450 from OAK to HNL.
Will the fares go down?
Should we choose different dates within our 11 night window?
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Rachel,
It’s nearly $40 less if you don’t return mid-week. Otherwise might improve if you wait as per post details.
Aloha.
Ashley
I have a very flexible schedule and I’m trying to come see my sister any time from now till summer (end of May). When would you suggest is the best time AND, more importantly I’m trying to figure out the cheapest city that fly to HNL. I currently live in Dallas but, I’m all over the country for work so, I can easily get to a different airport. Just wish work could take me to Hawaii too 🙁
Thank you!
Beat of Hawaii
Hi Ashley,
SF bay area is the cheapest. Otherwise San Diego or Seattle. We’ve already had some good spring deals and more are definitely on the way. Dallas doesn’t participate in deals really, just seasonal fluctuations and very rare fare wars.
Aloha.
Meg
I am trying to find a cheaper than $600 ticket from SF to Maui the third week of March. Are there smaller (no frills) airlines that fly that route? Am I dreaming to think I will find anything for less than $600-700 round trip?
Beat of Hawaii
If you fly out of OAK on 3/21 there are a number of possible return dates with total cost of high $400’s to low $500’s. Nonstop.
Aloha.

Fares are mostly in the high $400’s and we’ve seen them for up to $150 less in the off season very recently. So the decision to buy or wait depends on your threshold for the pain of not knowing. Spring to summer will reveal more if you care to wait.
ALoha.
will plan to travel to Honolulu and Big ISland in October 9-16.What is the cheapest way to do,HNL first then inter island to Big Island or vice versa. There will be 5 of us from Phoenix, and WHEN will be the cheapest time to purchase tickets?
THANKS
Hi Rita,
All the Hawaiian Islands are wonderful in their own way.
Aloha.
Hello,
We are planning a trip from IAD to HNL August 16-22 (currently $900 per person RT). What would be a decent price for airfare?
Thank you!
Hi Cathy,
With one or two stops perhaps as low as $700’s.
One way.
THANKS!
Hi Susan,
Too early to book until next week. Looks like there might be some $250 or so airfares coming. Or you can wait until fall and see what happens. Should not be a problem waiting.
Aloha.
I live in Portland Maine, East Coast, trying to search for deals to Kona or Kauai for end of February 2016. A friend told me about your website. Enthusiastic to have a good resource now. Any advice? Many Thanks.
Hi Carrie,
No great deals unfortunately. About $900 to either island. These are mostly two week advance purchase fares. Otherwise price is higher. We checked Boston, and there’s nothing worth it from there either. It might improve but isn’t likely.
Aloha.
Hi Rich,
There will be more sales from Los Angeles but they will not be to Kauai.
Thank you
Hi Greg,
We don’t see much possibility of your dates coming down in price.
Thank you.
Hi Gary,
Would be best to wait given the new airline on that route.
Thank you!
Aloha
Hi Angela,
Suggest waiting until there are better deals for those dates.
Aloha.
I ❤️ Hawaii!!!
Our youngest daughter selected to go to college at HPU in Honolulu. So I look for every opportunity for a cheap fair to visit.
Looking for travel in May while she’s out till Summer semester: May 9-22 (I can only spend 7 days total).
Hi Charisse,
The post contains our best information on timing for visits. Which island is entirely subjective so we recommend the acclaimed guidebook series online or in print, Hawaii Revealed.
Aloha.
Weare looking to fly from Phoenix to Honolulu in mid-September. Whaat is the best time to make airline reservations to get a good fare?
Hi Grill,
Recommendations on timing are already in the post.
Thank you!
Hi Pang,
There are fares of about $400RT on either Hawaiian or Alaska. That’s a good price and probably won’t improve. For places to stay, we suggest the highly regarded online and print guidebook series, Hawaii Revealed.
Aloha.
Hi!
My husband and I are planning on going to Kona at the end of May (Memorial Day weekend) for a wedding. We are flying from Houston. What is your recommendation on when to purchase tickets?
Thank you!
Hi Koriane,
Starts in low $600’s with two stops but for good connection it costs about $200+ more. Yuck. Nor sure this will improve however. You can try waiting, especially if your dates are mid-week and somewhat flexible.
Aloha.
Thanks!
Hi Nate,
Might come down some if you wait a few weeks. ATL is usually more competitive and has the nonstop which is generally quite pricey – averages $250 more than one-stop.
Aloha.
Aloha, arriving the 1st of June from St Louis, airfare has been steady for some time. do you think it will drop as we get closer to departure or should we purchase tickets now? thank you
Hi Doug,
There is some potential for up to $100 drop if you wait.
Aloha.
Hi Sonya,
On accommodations and things to do, we suggest the highly acclaimed print and online series Hawaii Revealed.
Sounds like you’re looking for a one way LAX-HNL ticket for mid-October. It would be best to wait several months for best pricing. Otherwise nearly $400 one way at this point. From LA currently would suggest Hawaiian Airlines. We’ll see if Virgin America comes online by then.
Aloha.
Hello,
I am planning a trip from the SF bay area to Honolulu for a week around the middle of June this year (from the14th-21st).
Thanks!
Hi Brett,
$600 for those dates is a bargain. It is normally $700 or more. Not sure you can expect better, although the bay area is somewhat unpredictable this year. Suggest buying now.
Aloha.
Hi Brook,
$598 on Hawaiian OAK-HNL for your exact dates. Great price. Wouldn’t wait.
Aloha.
I thought you recommended waiting a little on fares from the Bay Area due to increased competition; or was this for Spring flights?
Hi Brook.
If it is $100 or more off normal, in summer, that’s a great opportunity. We said it is fast changing and not predictable.
Aloha.
Hi, we want to go to Maui late June from Phoenix. Airfare is currently $830 per person RT.
Should we wait to purchase tickets or is that the best price we will see.
Hi Teri.
It doesn’t appear likely that prices will come down on that route.
Aloha.
Aloha
We are planning to fly from BNE to HNL in August. Should we buy the tickets now or wait?
Hi Anna.
Some days are prices about $650. Not sure that will improve any further if you wait.
Aloha.
Hello. So a friend and I are looking to travel to Oahu from March 12-19 from New York. We were wondering when the best time to buy the tickets may be and at about what price they may be at? If I recall, I believe you may have mentioned that Feb might be the best time to look for deals for March.
Hi Trevor.
From $775 with a stop or from about $1000 nonstop due to spring break. Doubt that will go down.
Aloha.
The two of us want to vk on the beautiful island of Hawaii can you tell me when it would be cheapest to fly when you to book our trip we are in cleveland ohio but we can also fly out of akron ohio which ever has best prices
Hi Crystal,
Honolulu and Maui usually though not always have the best airfares. There are some $750 fares in late February and early April. Otherwise it mostly is $900’s+. There will be probably be more fares in the $700’s for later in the spring (after spring break) and again in the fall.
Aloha.
Aloha!
Hi Alyssa,
It is the same price to Maui or Kona. From about $900. Either is great for kids with lots to do. Your correct, Denver suffers at this point in relation to Hawaii. With new planes coming to most carriers, that could change in the future (but not this year).
Aloha.
Thank you!
We have 11 nights from October 4 – October 15. We are planning on staying only 7 nights and want to depart October 4 and return October 11. Flights are currently around $450 from OAK to HNL.
Will the fares go down?
Should we choose different dates within our 11 night window?
Hi Rachel,
It’s nearly $40 less if you don’t return mid-week. Otherwise might improve if you wait as per post details.
Aloha.
Just wish work could take me to Hawaii too 🙁
Thank you!
Hi Ashley,
SF bay area is the cheapest. Otherwise San Diego or Seattle. We’ve already had some good spring deals and more are definitely on the way. Dallas doesn’t participate in deals really, just seasonal fluctuations and very rare fare wars.
Aloha.
I am trying to find a cheaper than $600 ticket from SF to Maui the third week of March. Are there smaller (no frills) airlines that fly that route? Am I dreaming to think I will find anything for less than $600-700 round trip?
If you fly out of OAK on 3/21 there are a number of possible return dates with total cost of high $400’s to low $500’s. Nonstop.
Aloha.
