  1. My wife and I are planning our 25th anniversary to Hawaii June 15- June 24. When is the best time to buy tickets? We are traveling from North Carolina. We prefer flying out of Greensboro but are willing to fly out of Raleigh or Charlotte for a deal.

    Thanks

  2. Looking to spend 7 nights on Kauai and 3 on Big Island. Coming from San Diego, willing to drive to LAX. Can you advise on the most affordable flight combination? RT from Mainland to Kona or Lihue with an inter-island? Which island would I see the best rates from San Diego? LAX? (Traveling in late August)

    Mahalo!

    1. Aloha — airfare from BWI to HNL for Aug 5-19 2016 dropped overnight $25.00. I’m holding out and hoping I can get for maybe $850. Am I asking for a miracle? Just want to get cheapest airfare with one stop.
      Mahalo

      1. Hi Sharon,

It is remotely possible Right now prices are quite high and your departure is even higher than the surrounding days. As you may have noticed there’s a huge difference between early August and late August – about $500. Keeping fingers crossed with you.

        Aloha.

  3. Thanks for all of your updates on airfair wars. Things rarely come across for Denver….but just picked up tickets to Kona in October for $232.00 each way utilizing one of your alerts from other locations. If you don’t mind a couple of stops it is worth it especially having paid over $800.00 last October. Bring on Ironman. Maholo Beat Of Hawaii.

  4. Wanting to plan a trip to Hawaii.. When is the best time to travel for the best rates? Will be flying from Indianapolis Indiana.. Thank you

  5. We are looking to fly from Lihue to Vegas for vacation in early june (or may 27th to June 8th or so) for a family of 3 it is running around $2500 right now. Do you think there will be lower prices to come or should we book now.

    1. Hi Tracy,

It should come down some if you wait. We should have spring sales very soon. Best hope is for low $500’s.

      Aloha.

  6. Hello!! We hope to be traveling to the Big Island mid June 2016.
We hope to stay in the area of the Champagne Ponds…right now the air fare seems very high..compared to our trips to Honolulu..is this something that is due to the June travel dates or is it the Island in your opinion??
Also, I’m curious if the Kona Airport has better air fare deals than Hilo??
Thank you very much for your guidance~
    Linda

    1. Hi Linda,

Kona tends to run slightly higher than Oahu or Maui, but not always. Hilo is always more than Kona. And mid-June is peak travel time.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi there!!!

Just noticed that Hawaiian Airlines raised the price of their comfort seats by $5.00 (AGAIN!!!) without so much as an announcement to the public. Although it’s only $5.00, why did they feel it was necessary to impose another increase….they are so greedy!!! When we began purchasing the comfort seats on their flights, it was only like $20.00 or so, then it began to significantly increase at least twice a year.

They’ve also raised the price for Premiere Club membership as well but still have not dropped their fares due to the drop in oil prices.

They sure have forgotten about the loyal customers who saw them through their hardships over the years when Aloha Airlines used to whip their butts in interisland travel.

Sure wish Southwest, Virgin or any other airlines would provide roundtrip service from HNL to LV so we won’t have to put up w/Hawaiian Airlines anymore.

    Mahalo!!!

  8. May 12-21 hotel & non stop United = 3200..is that good or should I wait or change the dates? From NJ to Oahu.

    1. May 12-21 (not the 27). Hotel and United nonstop = 3200..is that a good price ..should I book it or wait…from NJ-Oahu

      1. Hi Elaine.

We can’t comment on hotel. Air is currently over $800 and has potential to come down about $200 if you wait. Can’t say just when.

        Aloha.

  9. We are planning on a Maui trip for our anniversary in November. Would like to go for 12 days, around the 2-14th, flying from Las Vegas. Any ides when would be a good time to purchase our tickets? Thank you 🙂

  10. Want to do a Hawaiian vacation flying out of Chicago June 4th. (Last day of school is June 3rd. Fly out days are flexible except need to leave after 6p on the 3rd. Fly back days are flexible but want about a 7-day vacation. Island choice is flexible although we want to go to the national park. Best days? Best Airlines? Best time to buy?

    1. Hi Jim,

Unless you want a 20-30 hour layover, prices are starting at about $850 RT to Maui for example. Check Delta and Alaska for best prices with good connections Not sure this pricing will improve. Best prices are to fly the following Monday or Tuesday, not Saturdays. Probably good to buy now.

      Aloha.

    2. Planning on travel to the big island the end of July. We are flying from Atlanta, Ga.
Or we could drive to Sashville, Tn. There are 3 of us..
      Looking for best price.
      Thanks ,
      Jill Guthrie

  11. We are wanting to arrive in maui may 27 and stay 10 days. We’re coming from Louisville ky and is our 1st real vacation kinda of the honeymoon we never got to have after 27yr of marriage; so as you can probably tell we are very lost about the whole traveling things and any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks and have a GOD Blessed Evening! Aloha

    1. Hi Amanda.

A Hawaii vacation – that’s great. Delta has the cheapest fare – $832. But you’ll have to leave either on the 25th or some other date before that. It has a moderately long connection 17 hrs total time). For a faster connection (12 hours) it will cost $1,090. For what to do, where to go, and such, we suggest these print or online guidebooks: Hawaii Revealed.
      Aloha.

  12. I’m looking to travel to Oahu (3-4 days) and then Maui (4-5 days) in May or June 2016 from Chicago. Wondering when the best time to fly is, best places to book through that have the option for refundable flights (due to my husband’s unpredictable medical situation), and when to buy for lowest flight prices. I’m Thu mong of flying in on a Tuesday or Wednesday and out on a Thursday or Friday (ex. may 3rd-may 13th).

    1. Hi LK.

Early May is about $750 on United’s nonstop to HNL. About $200 more if you bring Maui into the picture, so it might best to just buy inter-island too. Probably won’t improve. Buy inter-island right away as well. If you have a medical situation we’d suggest you buy travel insurance. Otherwise buy air travel directly on airline websites.

      Aloha.

  13. I’m flying to Oahu for a wedding, so my dates are specific, May 21-25. When would be the best time to book my flight?

  14. Heading to HNL from LAX in late July — high season — for a week. Fares seem to be in the $780-810 range now. Are there likely to be any better deals if we wait to purchase??

    1. Hi Pam,

No indication of anything that would improve this by waiting. On the other hand, it probably won’t get worse and availability for late July isn’t usually as tight as early July.

      Aloha.

  15. We’re going to Oahu from July 24 thru July 30 from Houston. What price range should we expect to pay for the flight to Oahu?

  16. We’ll be traveling to Hawaii in late June to early July. I’ll need to book inter-island flight from HNL to LIH. Right now the rate is $86/person on Hawaiian Airlines. Seeing as we are in peak season, is this as good as it will get? Should I grab these rates now or wait for better?
    Thanks.

  17. Flying from Denver to Hawaii 4 June – 18 June 16, 4-11 June on Kona and 11-18 June Kauai. Should we wait until later in the year for a better price or look now?

    1. Hi Ben,

Outbound is end of low season but return and inter-island will be high season. That makes purchase timing difficult. Probably best to book now. $834 roundtrip on Alaska to Kona, then add inter-island. When we built it with all flights included and returning from Lihue, it came out to over $1,300.

      Aloha.

    2. We are planning a trip Hawaii from May 24th to June 9th. Traveling from Atlanta to Oahu for a week and then to Maui and the Big Island for 4 days on each. Should we book now like Ben or wait?

      1. Hi Richard.

It should improve some by waiting. But if you’re wanting the Delta nonstop that might stay pricy.

        Aloha.
