We knew there would be a lot of changes coming to the sleepy, private island of Lanai Hawaii following its acquisition last year by billionaire investor Larry Ellison. First, about two weeks ago, we announced that Ellison was buying struggling airline Island Air, in order to facilitate airlift to and from his luxury island.
Since then, Lanai’s game changing new owner also announced plans to build a third, ultra luxury resort on the island. He’d previously revealed plans to turn the island into a model for environmental sustainability. With Ellison at the helm, we expect to see a dramatic turnaround for Lanai.
Tom Cruise Helps Market Lanai | 3rd Luxury Resort Coming
It is being reported that Tom Cruise may have a role to play in the marketing of Lanai. Last month, Cruise was invited to the island by his friend Ellison to visit the island. Larry’s son, David, coincidentally helped produce Cruise’s film, Mission: Impossible.
Cruise is now reported to be in discussions to buy and combine a number of properties overlooking Manele Bay, valued in total at nearly $25 million. He plans to demolish the existing homes and build one super home for himself and daughter Suri.
Third Luxury Hotel Coming to Lanai
The proposed new hotel, likely a third Four Seasons Resort, is to feature one hundred bungalow styled rooms similar to those of the Big Island’s Kona Village. It will join the island’s two iconic properties, Manele Bay and The Lodge at Koele.
