  1. Aloha,

I’ve been watching prices for my family to come out to Oahu this summer. It doesn’t seem like the midwest is ever included in good deals, especially small airports. Do you think we should wait or is $682 with 2 layovers the best we can expect? Traveling: flexible around May 20th – June 3rd, Wichita ICT – Honolulu HNL

    Mahalo for all your help!

    1. Hi Michelle.

It may not improve on that route. Best hope, if it does, is 1-stop and about $650.

      Aloha.

  2. Hello, I am looking at summer flights to from Portland, Or to Oahu, then to Maui. The best price I’ve found for a family of 3 is around $1,600 in August, including the inter island flight at $177 per person. Would you advise booking this far in advance and is this a good price? Thank you for the great advice.

    1. Hi Leah.

$1600 for three including inter-island is a good price on that route. PDX is not very competitive which is why there is not great pricing.

      Aloha.

  3. Cannot click to open any of above. Was interested in info for flights from San Francisco to Maui. Please contact me either at email or phone. Thank you

  4. Looking for flights in October. From Phoenix to Maui or Phoenix to Oahu. They seem super high. Best time to buy?

  5. Hope to travel from ATL to Maui or Kona in mid-December. What is my best strategy for pairing a route from ATL to west coast to get the best deal possible? And what overall cost should I expect-target for mid-December? Thanks so much in advance.

    1. Hi Hannah.

Too early to look ahead as flights can only be booked 330 days in advance. You’re probably going to spend $900 RT with reasonable connection to either destination. And you can’t come mid-December looking for any kind of deal. Lower prices would require round trip be completed by about December 10.Traveling to the west coast on a separate ticket isn’t going to improve that.

      Aloha.

  6. Hello, I want to purchase tickets using my Hawaiian Miles from Sac/Oakland to Maui for travel the beginning of June. Is there a best time for me to book using the miles, or does it not matter when I book? Mahalo.

    1. Hi Jennifer.

The earlier the better on an award ticket. The cheapest we are finding is 61k miles for a few dates.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi! I’ve just booked my first trip to Hawai, and appreciate all of the advice that I’ve found on your site. We are flying from Denver and had lots of Delta Skymiles built up, so that really helped us save on a package deal. We will be staying on Kauai, and I am wondering which airline has the interisland flights? Also, what would your recommendation be for a first-timer, as to which other island to visit? We will be staying for a week. Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Keri.

Two airlines with inter-island flights, Southwest and Hawaiian. Take your pick. For one week, would suggest you stay put on one island. You will lose a half day changing islands and a week isn’t very long.

      Aloha.
