In many ways it is difficult for me to believe that it’s been 4 years since 💔 his passing. I enjoyed his travels, commentary on life, amazed at his appetite for any, and all, foods from every country. I have just begun watching his show from the first episode and will continue to the last, missing Anthony Bourdain entirely, yet at times a little less.
Currently we are on Maui. Maui is in a nasty drought and the island is as brown in color as I have ever seen it. There are also two fires burning up in the hills above Lahaina.
Aloha
I just finished reading Bourdain, The Definitive Oral Biography. He was an amazing person with many inner demons. But I think that’s how all genious’ are.
But he’s one that really gets it in his travels. Unlike Andrew Zimmern, who doesn’t appreciate Spam.
Andrew Zimmern is too busy eating bugs to worry about Spam!
When Anthony passed away, part of me died also. He was able to experience parts of the world, that I could only wish to experience. He opened up so many places that I have since experienced and many that I hope to when my wife retires. I only wished that he had cried louder for help. He had so much to offer!!
In my last trip to Oahu in 2012, we visited all the places he talked about and they did not disappoint. I hope they are all still active businesses.
I too love 😍 Hawaii. I have visited every island except Niihau and Kahoolawe. I was asked what is my favorite island. I don’t have a favorite. I love each one for what they are and are not. Mahalo for the opportunity to share. Aloha!
Gosh, now I have tears in my eyes, so nicely written. Thank you.
