Hawaii Statehood Day

Celebrate Hawaii Statehood Day Anywhere and Save

No matter where you are in the world, you can celebrate Statehood Day in Hawaii. It’s today, and we know that it is controversial. You can read more about the overthrow of the Hawaiian Monarchy on Nu`uanu.

1. Note: Offer still valid as of 8/20/16. Honolulu Magazine is offering a $10 yearly subscription today only (US Addresses). We’re regular readers (well at least Rob is). He says it is nice quality and fun to page through. It can help give you a Hawaii fix while waiting for your Hawaii vacation.

Thanks to them we’ve found so many things, among them: Sweet Home Cafe, Free yoga in Kapiolani Park across from Sans Souci Beach (Sundays at 5pm), Hidden Oahu hikes and Glazers Coffee (one of our favorites).

2. Made In Hawaii Festival is this weekend at Neal Blaisdell Exhibition Hall and Arena. Meet vendors, watch cooking demonstrations by Hale Aina Award winning chefs and listen to Na Hoku Hanohano Award winning entertainers.

If you’re not able to attend, you can check out the list of vendors. Many have websites with information on their products.

3. If this gets you thinking Hawaii foods, we’ve got a great list of Hawaii recipes you can make anywhere.

Have a great weekend!

  1. I bought it–great deal, thank you!

I always buy “Honolulu” at an airport bookstore when I first get off the plane at HNL. I enjoy the range of articles (even for a visitor), the great photography and those restaurant reviews by John Heckathorn make me drool.

Plus, I love that “Honolulu” has the family lineage of “Paradise of the Pacific”–one of my favorite old-time publications.
