  1. Hello,

We are looking for flights from Phoenix to Kona round trip from 8/7 to 8/13. Is it best to fly directly to Kona, or fly to Honolulu instead, and then to Kona… for cost purposes. Any suggestions on finding the best deals? We need flights for 7 of us.

    Thanks!
    Erica

    1. Hi Erica,

Not worth the hassle or expense of separate tickets. About $750 right now on American or if you can fly 8/8-8/14 then about $100 less still same carrier. Not expecting any improvement.

      Aloha.

  2. Hi! I haven’t taken a vacation in years and finally decided to take my daughter to Hawaii.
We’ll fly from SLC to Maui in the fall. The best price I’ve seen is $574 round trip per person flying in to Kahului (through Delta). Is this a decent price or should I wait it out? I don’t know what I’m doing 🙁

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Jessica,

Yes high $500’s is what we’re seeing right now. We suspect that it might get better – say by $50 or so if you wait. And there’s no harm in waiting since availability will not be a concern. Be patient (the airlines are counting on our having no patience.

      Aloha.

      1. I will have patience and watch the prices like a hawk. Thank you for your timely response. I appreciate it!

  3. Hello,

I am searching for deals from Houston to Honolulu in September. Do you suggest I wait for better deals? Thanks!!

    1. Hi Binal,

$900 right now either nonstop or with a good connection. Gut call is to wait with a target price of $800 or less. No harm in waiting for low season.

      Aloha.

  4. Hello! We are looking for airfare for 2 adults and 3 children. We are flying to Honolulu the week of June 27th and staying until July 13th or so? Which airline do you suggest? Which airport would better San Diego, Orange County or LAX? Which day should we fly and can we avoid super long layovers and still save money? Thank you in advance for your help! I’m planning on booking this week!

  5. I think you are doing a great job. Will surely consult you on my next planned visit to Hawaii.

  6. Hello,

My family and I are planning a trip to Hawaii Dec. 17 through the 21st. We will be traveling from Dallas and need to go to Honolulu. Virgin, which is our preferred airline, doesn’t list any fares for this route beyond 12/14. Do you think we should just wait and watch for them to post their fares or go ahead and book with another airline? Or maybe we are just looking way too soon? I would be so grateful for any advice you could offer.

    Thank you,

    Kelly

    1. Hi Kelly.

Yes suggest waiting on Virgin America. That route is fairly competitive and you should be fine. We did see the same issue and you might want to call to ask when that can be booked online as it is rather unusual, with most airlines booking 330 days in advance.

      Aloha.

  7. Hi
I’m getting married 10/8, want to book our honeymoon 10/10 thru 10/16
We’re leaving from Sacramento, when do you think the best time to book our trip? Also, is package deal better? We’re haven’t decided on island. We want to go where we can go Pear Harbor, cruise dinner and just have fun.
Your advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you in advance.

    1. Hi Taya,

Suggest waiting a bit as it is nearly $600 and we’ll have a lot more fall airfare sales. Target price might be about $500.

      Aloha.

      1. I need to fly fromLAX to Honolulu…….leave LAX on 8/31/16 and return to LAX from Honolulu on 9/1/16. Which airlines do you suggest I try? And when should I book the fights????

        1. Hi Sandy,

There should be more late summer/fall airfares on that route. Could happen again anytime. Don’t be in too much of a rush for those dates and you should save $100-$200 off current high price. Hawaiian Airlines and Virgin America.

          Aloha.

  8. I was wondering if you would please let me know of deals that you are aware of for second week of this October (8th to 15th). I was looking forward to come visit my sons, they are in grade school and I would be coming from Washington DC to Honolulu.
    Thank you,
    Carlos

    1. Hi Carlos,

UAL nonstop is nearly $1,100, and your Saturdays are always going to be at a premium. One stop on various airlines for those dates start at $858 depending on connection time. Could improve if you wait and there is certainly no issue with availability, except for perhaps the nonstop. That flight might remain problematic.

      Aloha.

  9. Aloha! We will be flying from Oakland Ca to HNL June 19-24. It’s getting close, prices are around $645 RT on Hawaiian. Are there any other flights that are cheaper?

    Please reply and Mahalo❤️

  10. Hi, I’m trying to book a flight from LAX to Honolulu in early September. Are prices listed as one way? I’m a little confused.

    1. Hi Denise,

Today fares for that route and time are back up at over $500 round trip, so wait for the next drop. There will be one.

      Aloha.

  11. Aloha!

I am getting married and am planning the wedding date around when I can get a good deal to go on my honeymoon immediately after somewhere in Hawaii.

I live in Columbus, and my fiancé will not agree to Hawaii as our honeymoon if the total cost is too expensive. I’ve been trying to look up deals that are all inclusive with airfare, but I’m having trouble and don’t even know if that is the smartest option. I would appreciate any tips or recommendations please!

    Thank you!

    Ashton

    1. Hi Ashton,

Suggest just checking airfares and hotels and see what you come up with, then comparing with packages. We prefer buying separately and controlling things, but that’s a personal preference depending on your comfort.

Prices from Columbus to Maui or Honolulu will be from the mid $700’s to $1,000 in low season. The higher the price, the better the connection. Suggest checking CMH, CVG, DAY airports.

      Aloha.

  12. We are traveling to Kauai from Phx in October. Prices seem to be holding just under 700. When do you foresee the best time to jump on this? TIA.

    1. Hi Jane,

That is running $544 today on the nonstop. Good price and best to buy it now.

      Aloha.

  13. Hi,
My husband and I are hoping to take a trip to Hawaii in the month of August for 9-11days. Our departure airport is flexible (any michigan airport, toledo, or chicago), but we would need to fly into Kailua-Kona. Would you be able to recommend what a good price would be for a round-trip for 2. We would make as many lay-overs as necessary. Thank you! =]

    1. Hi Kati,

Prices are currently dropping starting 8/21. $699 with 20 hours duration on Alaska from ORD or $741 with 15 hours on United. Not sure it will improve much.

      Aloha.

  14. Hi!

We are planning to go to Honolulu from 8/10-8/17 and flights today from Los Angeles to Honolulu are around $774/pp on most airlines. Do you think prices will get any lower? Thank you in advance for your insight!

    1. Hi Kim,

Odds are better than average for some reductions over summer on this route. Suggest waiting with us on this one.

      Aloha.
